real hip hop

hahaha shit long time since i've been here but he would rap and then all the sudden start talking. i thought he was really good when he was rapping, but then would just randomly talk about politics/bush/war/ which i dont give a fuck about. his raps were good though just random talks between songs. I had no idea who he was before hand but he put on a crazy show.

clearly you've never listened to reasonable doubt.

lif's beats exhibit a lot more talent than his rhyming ability imo. and while i respect the shit outta def jux (been on el-p's nuts since FanDam and oxstrumentals days), i think the label gets WAY too much credit in the context of discussions/debats such as these.

please note my qualifier - in the context of discussions such as these.

also, let's not forget that wu tang once sold albums out of their van on beat street.

that em was signed to rawkus (please see first two soundbombing compilations) and scam before that.

master p traveled all over the south selling shit outta his trunk.

the difference between these dudes who stayed on their regional grind and DefJux and Rhymesayers cats staying on their regional grind? There are several, but only one is relevant:
1. the three i listed started to become adored by LARGE mainstream population.

my question is, why the fuck aint these dudes "real" hip hop in 2006?

rza's worst beat is just as good as ant's worst beat. just as good as lif's worst beat. just as good as rjd2's worst beat. em's production is equally skilled.

i understand you respect dangermouse (clearly, since the OP mentions him 3 times among his top five) and others (do you own revolutionary but gangsta or just talking about it?) but shit, you gotta understand the infrastructure of the game itself. hatin on the game is one thing, but disassociating dudes who've lived this shit by disassociating them from the categorization "real hip hop" is mad ill.

there are two kinRAB of music: good and bad. fuck this real vs. fake shit.

but aesop is so real. he's so intelligent. he has something to say, whereas "mainstream" dudes "all rap about the same thing."

haha, i dont agree with your ban, but i hear what you are saying.

also, who else is loving that Little Brother and A-Trak track? shit is bananas-ly ill.

This is a retarded ass thread. OP trying to drop knowledge on us, whatever.

There's enough variety in hiphop for everyone. Outkast is not Nas is not Immortal Technique is not MF Grimm.

There's no real hip-hop. Shut the fuck up.
