Reading text messages on your phone from the Verizon site? New Feature?

Awhile back I was wonder if my text messages could be viewed online and I did some google-ing and people even on the verizon website forums, have asked that same question if your parents could some how view your texts online or have it sent with the bill and the census was No, they cant unless it is by court order for legal issues. Just yesterday though, my friend was talking about how she got her phone taken away because she had sent "inappropriate" text messages and also had sent nude pictures several months ago. She said her mom went on verizon and logged into there account and was able to view all text messages and pictures taken on her phone shes had it. I was arguing with her for awhile about it because of what I had read but she really did get it taken away for that. So today I looked on the verizon wireless site and went under the FAQs and found this:

Q: Can I view and/or print my text messaging content?

A: * Users who login to the Verizon Wireless text messaging website to send/receive text messages can view/print content and corresponding replies for 120 hours after the original message is sent.
* Messages sent from or received on your device cannot be viewed in any other medium. You can, however, forward text messages to an email address, and then view/print them just like any other email.
* Text messaging content is not available through My Verizon.

I was very confused when I found this because I have been confident that I'm not going to get in trouble for my text message because I DEFINITELY could. My parents have told me that they are going to look at my message online anyway if I don't let them see my phone when they ask for it and I said "fine go ahead but I'm not giving you my phone". I was pretty sure I would be safe but now I really don't know. I do delete my messages but whenever my parents get my phone they keep it for a couple hours and its not uncommon for me get a text a random text about; weed, drugs, fighting, skipping school, ect... throughout the day. So I ask, What is the real answer? Can you parents somehow view your messages without having your phone? Does deleting messages do anything more than take them off your phone? Has what happened to my friend ever happened to you? Other than talking in code, is there anyway to like scramble the message or something? Both her and I have normal verizon phones. If they can access my messages online is there anything I can do to prevent them or stop it from saving? Please no answers like "Why don't you just call someone and talk?" or "You shouldn't text or talk about that anyway!" Thanks
