The debate about debate No. 2
Brooklyn: At Tuesday’s debate, President Obama pulled off the magical feat of making his credibility completely disappear. Does he imagine the American public is so stupid that we will simply forget his many assertions that the attack in Benghazi was a response to a film and not a carefully planned and executed attack by terrorists? Carol Courtien
Tobyhanna, Pa.: The President said gas cost less in 2008 because of the recession. Let’s have a permanent recession, since it will put more money in our pockets. Joseph Matarazzo
Wantagh, L.I.: Many of my Facebook friends complained about the amount of political opinion posted after the presidential debate. Apparently, Facebook is only for important matters, such as pictures of weekend outings, not for trivia such as electing the next President. Lauren Urban
Debate this
Franklin Square, L.I.: As if it weren’t bad enough that the taxpayers of Nassau County face some of the highest property taxes in the nation, now we are being forced to foot the bill — of $600,000-plus — for security at Hofstra University during the presidential debate. Both candidates argue they’re trying to help the economy, yet they’re putting more strain on it — at least in Nassau County. Patricia Milito
Image vs. reality
Manhattan: Disturbing that there’s more reaction to Vice President Biden’s grinning than to Paul Ryan’s straight-faced distortions and lies. Why aren’t people bothered that Mitt Romney’s across-the-board 20% tax decrease doesn’t add up? Allison Zayas
Tone it down
Manhattan: To Voicers complaining about Joe Biden’s behavior at the debate: Mitt Romney walked all over Jim Lehrer at the presidential debate, and I didn’t hear any complaints then. Joe Wilson of South Carolina called the President a liar during the State of the Union address. Sean Hannity constantly interrupted the President when he interviewed him in 2010. When the country has so many problems to solve, we need an honest exchange of ideas, not partisan vitriol. Claudette Mobley
GOP role model
Manhattan: Yes, mean old Joe Biden was so rude to that nice young man. Why couldn’t he behave more like the standard-bearer of the Republican Party, Rush Limbaugh? David Achelis
Easily distracted
Brick, N.J.: President Obama told a Miami radio station that he believes Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj will be able to “sort it out” (“Pt. 2: Do or die on L.I.,” Oct. 16). He’s aware of what’s occurring on television, but claims he did not know about requests for more security for the diplomatic mission in Libya. Who is minding the store? Joan Lydon-Rodie
Childish argument
Brooklyn: Voicer Kathleen Renken says it was more humane for Mitt Romney’s dog to ride on the roof than for President Obama to eat a dog. What she fails to mention is that Obama was 8 years old when that incident occurred. Kevin Beers
Dollars and dreams
Whitestone: Re “Tony’s pig idea” (editorial, Oct. 15): It is clear the Daily News does not get how important the loss of legislative grants really is for senior centers, youth groups and cultural organizations. Their very existence is at stake. That is why I introduced legislation that would create a new lottery scratchoff game whose proceeds would be dedicated to a community grant fund. Unfortunately, The News confuses lottery proceeds with taxpayer money. It’s not taxpayer money, but funds from a game people choose to play. Does The News consider lottery funds that go toward education to be pork barrel? I certainly hope not. State Sen. Tony Avella, 11th Senate District
