THE GOOD SEED

One day as I walked through my journey to a hidden forest,
I got tired and thought to rest for a while
I looked around and saw this rock under a healthy oak tree
I sat on it and found it restful and stayed there for a while
As I retie my sandals to prepare for my journey
I found this deserted seed almost hidden behind the rock
I picked it up and wondered where did it come from
I wondered;
Would it be a seed that would grow tall and proud and bear a good fruit?
Or would it be a tree that would grow a luscious leaves enough to provide shelter through the storm?
Without hesitation I looked around for a good soil and decided to plant the good seed
I stayed there for a while to make sure it would grow with a right amount of water and sunlight it needs every day
As time passed by I watched it slowly grow until it could finally bear its good fruit
It has grown big enough that anyone could see and stop to notice it
Oh I wondered how sweet its fruit would taste like!
I stayed and wait for it to bear fruits;
Rainy days and winter has come and go,
Natives who has passed by, discouraged me and said that it won’t bear any fruit,
For the tree is unidentified and the time that has passed is long enough
But I kept stubborn and focused for I believed for its time will come and so I waited patiently
One morning when I woke, I found its trunk with multiple rings
Then I remembered my grandmother telling me how to tell when the trees are old enough with its whorls around its trunks.
I counted the rings from the bottom and realized how many years I stayed there watching it grow
Then I realized it’s time to keep going and continue with my journey and carry on with what I have left behind
I got sad to think that I have to say goodbye and go
But I looked at it and see the birds are happy nesting on its strong branches
I didn’t noticed how great it has grown until seeing it from afar as it gives shades through a strong heat
And I wouldn’t doubt a strong storm it could resist; it would still stand strong and proud beautifully until a storm has faded
I weep as I watch its leaves waves back at me as I looked back,
Then I thought; I could plant a good seed again when I arrived to my destination
And there I smiled, for I know by then I don’t have to go and leave it again.
