Re: Trigeminal Neuralgia

I have been suffering with TN for 5 years and it took a neuro-opthamologist to finally diagnose it after a year. Can anyone tell me how to start a new thread here. I am set to have Gamma Knife Surgery on Friday and would love to get any feedback. It's a last resort as life has become unbearable; I seem to be able to respond to post but not able to start new thread.

Thanks for your help.

To start a new thread:

On the left hand side of the board, note the title of the board you are on is bolded. Underneath that is a button entitled, "New Thread". Depress the button and you should have the proper message box to begin posting a thread.

Re: Trigeminal Neuralgia

Hi PMilton,

Did you have the Gamma Knife Surgery? How are you doing? I hope it went well for you and that you will be out of pain. Having TN is very frustrating because no one really understands the pain. My pain is unrelenting burning on the right side if my face and deep inside my right ear. I even feel dizzy some times.

I would be interested to hear how your surgery went. I saw a Neuro-Surgeon on Monday and he said he couldn't help me. He said if he did surgery my face would most likely be numb and I would most likely still feel the burning pain. I left his office feeling very depressed.

Take care and please let me know how you're doing.

Re: Trigeminal Neuralgia

You need to contact the TN clinic in the Neurology Dept at the University of Pittsburgh Presbyterian Hospital. My sister had vascular decompression surgery for her TN there and the recovery was wonderful. That was 8 years ago and she is still doing great.
