Re-Thinking Cricket WAP

are you sure the switch does not reject the data call when it is unable to validate the esn. my experience has been that phones are not able to establish calls since the esn is factored into the encyption used on calls. additionally i just tried manually programming a phone to my min/mdn and i was unable to establish a data session.

I was going to comment on that awhile back cause all my phones, razr's included were set to Mobile IP Prefered and everything worked fine. I just figured i was confused and reading the posts wrong somehow, dislexia or something, lol.. anyway When i would set it to Simple IP i usually couldnt get WAP or anything net related to work... I'll try on this Vogue i have now and see if it works as its telling me now that i need to subscribe to mobile web service and that it cant find my account and i need to dial 611 to speak to someone who doesnt speak english very well for them to either tell me that its my phones fault cause its not one of their phones or that nothing is wrong lol. Anyway i'll check and see if this Vogue works with Simple IP as the main setting as my girl frienRAB vogue as well as my razr's and the last vogue i had would work with it set to it.

Hopefully these morons can figure out whats up with my account..

I mentioned this awhile back wheni was messing with my V3M's, i ended up with working WAP on a hanRABet never on cricket before and was a VZ hanRABet origionally. Kinda tripped me out, mentioned it here somewhere and no one ever commented on it so figured it was just a random event...

I have heard about this sort of anomaly before happening with ESN's that have recently been de-activated. I don't know how long it takes for Cricket to purge their ESN database: You would think that it would be immediate since you can make calls on your new ESN immediately.

I've had phones sitting in a drawer receiving texts for months after de-activation, although I've never experienced the WAP/MMS phenomena. But the fact that it happens like that doesn't surprise me one bit.

yeah the sms will continue to go through (and vm notifications since they are similar) indefinately unless the nam info is removed. but in order to establish a call the esn is used.

Whoa I bet you're onto something here. MDN and MIN of an active device and the PRL (correct me if this wouldn't be necessary) and we'd, theoretically, be off...

they use the same prl as voice account.

edit: what i'm suggesting is leaving the nam info from a voic account and changing the data settings to match a cwis account. that way you could have access to the internet sans proxy. i wonder what consequence this would have on mms though.

Yeah a lot of phones that where flashed with Simple IP have stopped working its like 8 out of 10 of them are having to be Flashed/Reset so they have Both Simple and Mobile IP in order to get WAP and MMS to work
