Re: My daughters goldfish Tango the water although i change it each week keeps

going really dark and cloudy.? also the fish has black markings on it is getting worse what is the cause of this please?

the black markings sounds like ammonia burns i believe all you can do is change the water a little more frequentlyand the black should go away

It sounds like ammonia poisoning. What you need is a tank with a filter. Golds are dirty fish and always need filtration in their living conditions. Always. Plus I bet its being overfed all the time. Get a tank with a filter (you don't need a heater) and cut back on feeding. Golds should be fed only once/twice a day and only what they can eat in a couple of mintues.

It sounds like Tango is more than likely suffering the after effects of ammonia poisoning, called Melanophore Migration. Hence causing the black markings. As far as the cloudy tank goes, goldfish are incredibly dirty. And from the sound of things, if he is suffering from ammonia poisoning, his tank may be too small. Try switching to a larger tank with filtration. also, invest in a water test kit. That way you can test the water to make sure the ammonia content is not too high. If you do not put him in a bigger tank with filtration and test regularly tango may die. Good Luck!
