RAZR v3i or SLVR?

I'm a newbie at cell phones. I'm 17, I'll be 18 next week. I really really really want the RAZR v3i but there is the dilemma of it not sold at cingular....and my dad won't buy it unless he knows it's legit.

-what's the best way to buy one? (ebay?)
-what happens if I buy one from ebay but it brakes?
-how do I know if I'm being ripped off and is there any way to get my money back if I do?
-what does unbranded/unlocked mean?

I could just get the SLVR from cingular but I'd have to wait till the end of September because that's the earliest they'll let me resign a contract. (and I wan't the razr a lot more cuz I love the phone and itunes!

thanks

there are many great, fast and legit places to buy a Motorola V3i, just look in the Marketplace section of this site and you will see many. Their is actually a thread here in the Motorola section that discusses the best place to buy a V3i. Overall, buy a phone unlocked because its a lot cheaper, unless you are prone to breaking or losing your phone or getting it stolen etc. If you buy a phone from an unlocked place then there is generally no replacement (some sites do offer warrenties though). As far as the actual phone goes, the V3i is good, but be aware that if you want to use it for music purposes you have to open the phone to switch tracks vs the SLVR where you do not. If you think that is going to be a pain then the SLVR might be better. Otherwise, the V3i is a better phone IMO.

this just means that your phone can be used with any GSM carrier (in your case that is Cingular or T-Mobile), and that the phone will not have any carrier specific stuff loaded on it (no Cingular wallpapers or themes). It also means that the phone will not be properly set up for video or picture messaging or for accessing the internet (also called WAP settings). If you want a better description just google it and there will be plenty of results I'm sure.

does it go into your computer?

sorry I'm extremely new to all this stuff.

is it worth the money or not? If I could use it put pics from my phone to my computer maybe its worth it.

The Transflash card goes into an adapter which you can then insert into a card reader. The Transflash is not really neccasary unless your going to take alot of pictures. And which phone are you refering to when you said there's one for 220 and another for 245?

If your going to buy it off ebay then the auction should says if its a itunes phone or not...I think all itune phone has 100 song cap.

is this a good place to buy it? is the warranty any good? I told my dad it would be $200 but its gonna be $250 w/tax

You should get one off ebay instead...Who knows if that site is LEGIT or NOT....Well at least Ive never heard of that place before.

okay now I'm wondering should I go with the phone with iTunes or without? Is there a way to make iTunes more than 50 songs? or do I have to get the one w/o iTunes to have more?

There is no way yet to make it have more than 50 songs. The Cingulara SLVR has 100, but I have had both phones, and in no way does the SLVR compare to the V3i.

There is currently no way to up the 50 song limit. Thats why I sold my itunes V3i for the non-itunes razr v3i.

I would much rather have a phoen that can hold more then 50 songs then have a phone that has itunes.

I owned a SLVR and I loved the attention I got from it but it was to small and very unconfortable to talk on. The keypad with such small keys was hard to dial or text with.
