RAZR V3 or V3xx

Well, I lost my Razr V3. I liked the phone. I picked up a replacement yesterday, a V3xx. I really just need a basic phone with maybe some picture taking capabilities, and web access in an emergency. I don't have a data plan, I pay as I go. There are a few differences in the phones, and that's where my problem lies:

V3 Pros:
Customizable soft keys and navigator
Long battery life (7 hrs talk time, allegedly)

V3 Cons:
Earpiece volume is way too low for me, and I don't want to hack it.

-----

V3xx Pros:
Louder earpiece (allegedly- yet to be tested in the "field")
Has newer technology that I don't need right now, but may like in the future.

V3xx Cons:
Can't customize soft keys or navigator
Lesser battery life (3.5 hrs talk time)

-----

Now, volume is important to me because I am outside on noisy streets fairly often- but I really like the custom soft keys and navigator I set up.

Battery life is a nice-to-have, as I only use the phone for maybe 10-15 minutes a day (usually), and I can charge it easily enough, or power it when I need to.

I could swap for something else entirely, but have no idea what to swap to. Plus, I really do not want to buy yet another car charger. I want to keep my out-of-pocket cost to $50. I can take advantage of upgrade pricing (lucky timing, that).

Any ideas or comments?

TIA.

There is no question about it - get the V3xx. The LCD quality difference alone is enough to get the V3xx imo. The screen is just beautiful. The battery life is also much better than you say. With over 3 hours of calls total, my V3xx lasted 5 days (monday-friday) and thats with little bits of SMSing and internet usage thrown in too. Thats on a 2G network however, on a 3G network you will get less talk time.

The V3xx looks better, is faster (312mhz processor vs 40mhz in the V3!), better camera, better features, better talk time (believe it or not, v3xx has 950ma battery, v3 has like 740ma or something like that). I highly doubt the V3 is going to get 7 hours of talk time.

Thanks to both of you. I wound up with the V3xx. The volume is much louder, and the other features you mentioned are also as you indicated. Regarding battery life- I doubt there is much difference. So far, yes the V3xx has to be recharged more often, but not dramatically so. I think the advertised battery life on the old V3 is significantly overstated.

Of course, the V3 was returned to the train's lost & found, and I got it back. So now, it's a spare...

wow lucky you!
most people would just take the sim out and take the phone!

I had the V6 MAXX before, and the screen was amazing
I'd believe its the same on the V3XX

Congrats on the new phone!

I bought V3xx on the last week. This phone is SUPER-fast (in comparison with my old V360&C650)! And there very few differences between V3xx and V6 MAXX (camera, case, etc.). But V3xx costs only $240, yet V6 MAXX - $414 (in Minsk)!

Do you have to be in a 3G area to be able to get the Razr V3xx, i'm just wondering because as of right now i'm in the Dobson Cellular One area, and soon it will be converted over to At&t, and the next phone i'm looking at to buy is the V3xx, and their is no 3G for 150 miles.

Ok, then it looks like once Cellular One is toast, then I'll get the V3xx from at&t, supposedly they will have integrated the cellone markets into at&t by the end of november or early december.

ive owned the V551, and the 1st and 2nd gen RAZR and they all SUCKED...!! Then i swore NEVER to get another razr / motorola.
My wife got the V3xx and i had a change of heart. That simple, that easy.

The V3xx literally is like a new world of razr phone. Menu surfing is lightning fast, it plays mp4's with ease, the loudspeaker is crazy loud when it rings, earpiece...ahh.. still needs improvement, and the 3G is NICE. The only thing bad about that phone is the outer screen. Way too small.. That is why im waiting for the V9... oh yeah..!!
