I recently flashed a vcm to cricket and had it activated and the text and calling works, but the problem is it doesnt get hardly any bars of service maybe one bar while my other phone gets 3-4 right next to it, and after about 30 sec the razr tenRAB to drop the call completly every time! What setting could be causing this? And could it be software? if so how can i check, Ive had cricket refresh the phone back onto our account, and turned that hdrv setting or whatever its called to cdma form auto, and it still shows a 1x is that normal? my other cricket phone just shows a star looking icon, and Im wondering if it indeed is hitting the right towers or what?
thanks! for any help

bars are not a good indincator of signal strength. however there may be a hardware problem with the razr if it is dropping calls in a place you normally get strong signal. also razr's (v3c at least) are predisposed to poor reception because of poor antenna placement.

any way to tweak it to work better? i also noticed it was a little differnt frequency and channel setting than my phone, whic is cricket too

it should be operating in the 1900MHz band. the PRL will tell the phone which channels specifically. If your home SID is not set correctly this could cause some issues, but they would not be this severe.

You posted about this in the Motorola repair thread. The v3m works flawless when flashed unless something was messed up during the flash (assuming that the phone was perfect prior to the flash). I offered the recommendatipn of having the original software reloaded, troubleshoot from there, and then load the correct PRL file for Cricket at that point.

Unless the phone is put through a proper troubleshooting procedure, you will get only guesses as to the issue.

ok, but where was the thread on how to do it with the correct updates, I cant find it agian, i orignally got it off of doing searches recomended here, but cant find those threaRAB!

My phone started doing the same thing but not until I landed on it in a mountain bike crash . Everything else on the phone works perfect but no bars. However every once in a while I get full bars and then none. After trying everything I could think of I gave up and went and got another phone .
