RAZR MAXX VE vs N75 (AT&T)?

I'm trying to decide if I should take advantage of my grace period with Verizon, cancel my plan, and go with AT&T in order to get the N75. With the MAXX VE being Verizonized, I'm pretty much left with only customizing the wallpaper/front screen graphics and ringtones, right?

I want a nicely customizable flip phone (preferably with something like S60 and java) in the same price range, and the N75 seems to fit that bill. How do they compare via screen display quality (I know the screen sizes are the same or similar, but not sure about resolution) , sound quality, etc? I'd like a customizable phone, but I'm not going to go down in quality on those things to get it...and price range is fairly well fixed.

Thanks for the help

Higher res screen on the N75. And it can be had cheaper if you go through Amazon or A1Wireless or someone else besides AT&T. Mine should be arriving today, then I'm going to call and port out of Sprint.

Hmm...I'm not seeing the option to sign up for the "oh crap, you ran over your phone with a truck" insurance on A1 or Amazon...although apparently Wal-Mart has it if you sign up through them. Or did I just miss clicking a box in there somewhere?

hey I just left verizon for att and I just got the n75 you should be very happy with the level of customation u can do with this phone because of s60 u can change just about anything you want, light years ahead of what you can do with a verizon phone.

I saw it...didn't get it. I DID check the porting box, but somehow it didn't take (I think they just changed something on the server side this weekend). No biggie, I can just call to port when it gets here. Safer that way anyway.

They're the same resolution. Both QVGA.

Take a look are these reviews. I think most of what you're interested in is covered in them.

Maxx Ve

N75

Regardless, I'd say go for the N75 except if you want something small.

Thanks for those reviews. They did pretty much cover a good amount of detail on both phones.

I don't mind the size factor...in fact, I'd rather have something this size than a little phone that I'd be afraid of breaking or losing

I'm noticing one of the comments says that the Cingular branded one locked out some of the menu items, making it harder to customize. Anyone have any experience with this?

the menu items they are referring to are how well this phone is unbranded basically the only things cingular took away were ad2p and the ability to update the firmware thru nsu. all in all jost look at the basics section for each phone and you will see there in plain english that the motorla ve is almost impossible to customise with the verizon ui, myself being a former verizon user know they have a wonderful network but really dont want you to be able to access anything without paying them first.

ahh, thanks.

Yeah, that's pretty much the conclusion I've come to in my five days with the phone. After getting the wallpapers & ringtones set, I've just hit wall upon wall. I think I just got too spoiled with being able to play around with the skins on my E815.

Thanks for the info, guys. My N75 is apparently on its way, about $170 for that, a red SYNC for the wife, and a data connect kit for the N75...and about $70 in rebates. I would have gone with Amazon, but with a Cingular store right down the road, I wanted to be able to return locally if anything went wrong.

Now I just have to wait for it to arrive, activate the phones to port the numbers, and the RAZR ve and the LG phone go back to Verizon.
