Quite pleasantly surprised to find the last two entries there to be honest, rauld. Rear Window is a terrific film, but I still think that Psycho has the edge as it's got some sick technique and slightly more interesting characters. Also anybody who lists The Prestige is going to get a rep from me Good work, young man.

8. Gran Torino

"Get off my lawn"

If this was Eastwood's last movie to act in, he sure went out with a bang. His character reminds me at times of a couple old grumpy people I know, but I love the progression that the lead takes throughout the movie. The story in itself is compelling, but it's the directing that really make this movie a fine work of art. In 30 years I could see a lot of people raving about this film, which is another personal favorite of mine. In a sentence, Eastwood rocks.

7. A Beautiful Mind

Nash: What truly is logic? Who decides reason? My quest has taken me to the physical, the metaphysical, the delusional, and back. I have made the most important discovery of my career - the most important discovery of my life. It is only in the mysterious equations of love that any logic or reason can be found. I am only here tonight because of you.

Hats off to Ron Howard for this one. You really couldn't have directing this movie any better. The reality of the mental illness is portrayed solidly, though some have argued against it. And while the directing is top notch, the acting is solidly up there as well. You couldn't have asked for a better lead than Russell Crowe, and Jennifer Connelly gives one of the better supporting actress roles that we've seen. Chris Plummer, Paul Bettany, and Ed Harris also put in fantastic performances. Truly a touching film in my book.

I'll go with 4 more for tonight, just to try to attempt to please some people:

99. The Italian Job

"I trust everyone. It's the devil inside them I don't trust

It's a star-studded cast and just a plain fun movie. I think Charlize Theron is a huge plus to the movie, and while I'm not normally a huge fan of Ed Norton, I think he did a great job here, even with the rumors that he didn't care about being in this movie the 1st place. The best thing that this movie has going for it is the repeatability of watching the film. That alone places it here.

98. Life

Yeah, I got somethin' brewin: I got a ass whuppin' brewin' for you here, Ray, if you don't stop ****in' with me!

Yes, to me there actually was a time when Eddie Murphy was fricken hilarious. The one two combo of Murphy and Lawrence made for a movie with a lot of laughter. About five years ago, I could recite this movie which says a lot for how it is one of my favorites. The cornbread scene itself is enough comedy for an entire movie, but it doesn't stop there. Not to mention, Bernie Mac is hilarious in this movie as well. It also has a somewhat uplifting ending, even for being the screwball comedy that it is. While many people believe that this movie is nothing, I got to list it as one of my favorites.

97. Juno

You should've gone to China, you know, 'cause I hear they give away babies like free iPods. You know, they pretty much just put them in those t-shirt guns and shoot them out at sporting events.

The first time I watched this movie I didn't actually care for it. It was the second time that I actually began to appreciate this film, which I think as I now look back upon it, was actually worthy of being nominated for best picture as it was. Ellen Page brings home a powerful performance as the teenage pregnant girl. The rest of the acting is equally as superb and the storyline is one of pure originality. I think there should be more movies that aren't afraid to go against the grain and to not be afraid of trying something as original as this. Apparently it worked because a lot of people enjoy this film.

96. Harold and Kumar Go To White Castle

Did Doogie Houser just steal my f***ing car?

I don't know what a lot of people think about this film, but quite frankly I don't care either. The first time I saw this I couldn't stop laughing. The storyline is so simple, yet the jokes are so funny. The sequel is a joke and does kind of put a tainting to this film, but honestly this is one of the most hilarious comedies of the 00's.

Great list... lot of my favorites on it... and I'm looking forward to the rest...

I added you to the MoFo Members Top 100 Lists the other day...

73. Eagle Eye

"Jerry Shaw, you have been activated. Your compliance is vital."

This movie is just a fun adventure for me. I like the acting from Shia LaBeouf and also from Michelle Monaghan. The story is entertaining to me as well. I'm sure that there are once again a lot of people who are not a big fan of this film, but I enjoy watching it over and over again.

72. The Lion King

Rafiki: "It doesn't matter it's in the past"
Simba: "Yeah well it hurt"
Rafiki: "Yes the past can hurt"

Yet another childhood favorite of mine. Once again the voices bring the characters to life here. Who didn't love Jason Alexander as the voice of Timon? Every one else did great and the movie is just plain legendary when it comes to Disney. What a great story of emotional impact and laughter all tied together.

71. Taxi Driver

"You talkin to me?"

Scorcese combined with Robert DeNiro is first exposed here and what a brilliant combination the two of them make. This movie is definitely a cinematic classic.

23. North by Northwest

Roger Thornhill: Apparently the only performance that will satisfy you is when I play dead.
Phillip Vandamm: Your very next role, and you'll be quite convincing, I assure you.

Perfect blend of action, comedy, romance, and thrills. The acting is absolutely fantastic from Cary Grant and Eve Marie Saint. The cinematography is stellar as well. For a movie from the 50's, this one has really seemed to age well. There are so many quirks to this movie which just make it a classic that has passed the test of time for many. Should be regarded as one of Hitchcock's most successful masterpieces

22. The Bucket List

Carter Chambers: Even now I cannot understand the measure of a life, but I can tell you this. I know that when he died, his eyes were closed and his heart was open. And I'm pretty sure he was happy with his final resting place, because he was buried on the mountain. And that was against the law.

This movie may be a comedy by definition, but I also think that it is a movie with a purpose and a powerful message to live every day like it is your last and to cherish the people that are around you. With the movies help, I have taken that motto to the forefront of my life. You couldn't ask for a better duo in a movie like this with Nicholson and Freeman. The laughs they produce together are great. But it is the message of the movie that makes me love this one so much. I can easily watch this movie over and over again. Big ups to Rob Reiner for directing a comedy with a purpose.

21. Iron Man

Tony Stark: [reading the newspaper] "Iron Man." That's kind of catchy. It's got a nice ring to it.

Probably my favorite superhero movie of all-time. You truly couldn't have asked for a better performance from Robert Downey Jr. He was the perfect person to cast as Iron Man. I thought that the rest of the cast also did a good job as well. Kind of disappointed that I haven't seen the 2nd one yet, but the first one was great. The way the movie was put together was near perfection in my opinion.

There are a lot of movies I have enjoyed from your list. Looking forward to those last 5.

Great reviews and a thoughtful list. I'm pretty darn impressed, and that doesn't happen easily.

As for the final 2.....

2. The Shawshank Redemption

Red: [narrating] In 1966, Andy Dufresne escaped from Shawshank prison. All they found of him was a muddy set of prison clothes, a bar of soap, and an old rock hammer, damn near worn down to the nub. I remember thinking it would take a man six hundred years to tunnel through the wall with it. Old Andy did it in less than twenty. Oh, Andy loved geology. I imagine it appealed to his meticulous nature. An ice age here, million years of mountain building there. Geology is the study of pressure and time. That's all it takes really, pressure, and time. That, and a big ******* poster. Like I said, in prison a man will do most anything to keep his mind occupied. Turns out Andy's favorite hobby was totin' his wall out into the exercise yard, a handful at a time. I guess after Tommy was killed, Andy decided he'd been here just about long enough. Andy did like he was told, buffed those shoes to a high mirror shine. The guards simply didn't notice. Neither did I... I mean, seriously, how often do you really look at a mans shoes? Andy crawled to freedom through five hundred yards of **** smelling foulness I can't even imagine, or maybe I just don't want to. Five hundred yards... that's the length of five football fields, just shy of half a mile.

A truly captivating film. Truly an uplifting film that should give anybody a feeling of worthiness to society or hope. You can't give enough credit to the entire cast or the director Frank Darabont. I really can't say much about this movie because I believe it is almost perfect film-wise. I think it was robbed at the oscars and that's saying something since the film that beat it out in most occassions is in my top 50. Overall, I doubt I'll ever see another movie like this that is just captivating on so many levels.

1. Man on Fire

"Revenge is a meal best served cold"

I really can't lose either way with choosing Shawshank Redemption or Man on Fire as my number 1. I give the edge to Man on Fire simply for the fact that I feel it is a bit more of an emotional based film for me. Denzel Washington gives his best performance here in my opinion. Everything in this movie clicks for me, the directing, the acting, the score, and the ending to the movie is one of the best I've ever seen. It would be really tough for any movie to some day replace this movie as my number 1 film. Tony Scott's career can be defined as great after a film like this.

So, there you have it. That's my top 100. Thanks for the comments from everyone and feel free to keep them coming. I'll probably tabulate some random statistics about my top 100 at some point in time.

Weird thing is, I'm not really a LaBeouf fan. It just somehow turned out that way. I think acting wise, he did a good job in Eagle Eye. The rest are just "fun" movies.

Yeah I knew Leonidas' ripped body would appear at # 100. What can I say, I'm a sucker for sixpacks.

Mate, your list has gotten stronger and stronger. Much more stronger than I anticipated, at least. Obviously I love The Prestige, L.A. Confidential, The Dark Knight and North By North West is a nice addition. And I will tell you what, the more I watch American Gangster the more I actually like it. I just feel like the audience is robbed of the Washington/Crowe face off. They should have gotten at least another 20 mins of screen time together. It's different when done in Heat because those two electrifying scenes were very strong and the high points of the film, whereas Lucas and Ritchie's meeting isn't the high point. Don't like the inclusion of Iron Man though. Now THAT's an average summer blockbuster.

6. Million Dollar Baby

Eddie Scrap-Iron Dupris: To make a fighter you gotta strip them down to bare wood: you can't just tell 'em to forget everything you know if you gotta make 'em forget even their bones... make 'em so tired they only listen to you, only hear your voice, only do what you say and nothing else... show 'em how to keep their balance and take it away from the other guy... how to generate momentum off their right toe and how to flex your knees when you fire a jab... how to fight backin' up so that the other guy doesn't want to come after you. Then you gotta show 'em all over again. Over and over and over... till they think they're born that way.

It's really hard to come by a trifecta of actors whose work together has equally something as good as these 3 established, that being Eastwood, Hilary Swank, and Morgan Freeman. Hilary Swank's performance could quite possibly be my favorite from a lead actress of all time, while Freeman's was well deserving of supporting actor. I also think that this is Eastwood's best from behind the camera, and maybe one of his best in front of it. You truly feel for the movie as well. That's what I like so much about it.

5. Wedding Crashers

Jeremy Grey: How many times you gonna do this ****? Rule #32: You don't commit to a relative unless you're absolutely positive they have a pulse.
John Beckwith: Rule #16: Give me an up-to-date family tree. That was your mistake. You made me look like an idiot.
Jeremy Grey: Rule #76: No excuses. Play like a champion!

No comedy is more enjoyable for me. No comedy has more often used one-liners than this one for me. No movie can make me laugh more. I also believe that this is the best cast of any comedy, with Wilson, Vaughn, McAdams, Fisher, Walken, and Ferrell among others. If I need a good laugh, I know just what movie to pop in. Wilson and Vaughn particularly play well off of each other. Interestingly enough, there were good chunks of dialogue that were just pure improv. I know that this may seem a little bit of a high ranking to some, but it is what it is and it's one of my favorite movies of all-time.

95. Enemy of the State

Robert Clayton Dean: What the hell is happening?
Brill: I blew up the building.
Robert Clayton Dean: Why?
Brill: Because you made a phone call.

Humorous and entertaining. This is certainly not the last that we will see of Will Smith on this list. Action movie wise, I really enjoy a lot of his movies. Good combination of humor and action to translate into a fun popcorn flick.

94. Mrs. Doubtfire

"I'm a granny who can hip-hop be-bop dance till ya drop. And yo-yo make a mean cup of cocoa"

The best of the bunch for Robin Williams comedy wise. What else can be said? This movie is a classic and Robin Williams plays the part perfectly.

93. Old School

"Your my boy blue. Your my boy!"

Alright, alright. I swear this isn't going to be an all-comedy list, which at this point it pretty much looks like it to everyone else I am sure. But who doesn't enjoy a few good laughs. There's more than a few good laughs in this one. One of my favorite comedic trios of Ferrell, Vaughn and Luke Wilson make this movie a comedy classic. (Note: I actually looked on my list and there aren't many more comedies left).

I knew there would be a few more surprises to some. It didn't take that long. Funny thing is, I still feel there are a few more. But what's a person's list without some originality to it?

I love Shawshank Redemption too and Man on Fire was very good. Really enjoyed your list.
