Rate the Star Wars films, best to worst

Totally. If one excises the 'zany' CGI aliens from the podrace, and minimise the presence of the Gungans and Jar Jar, you have a genuinely interesting story, with some great action set pieces. That film is actually rather good, but spoilt by a bunch of dumb ideas layered on top. Alas, AotC isn't so readily rescueable.
 
I wonder if it will be re-evaluated in the future. I remember Empire Strikes Back was regarded, at least by the critics, as "the awkward middle movie" of the trilogy when it was first released, but now it's generally considered to be the best of the six.
 
I think it has been re-evaluated - just not for the better. When it came out, it was hailed as a return to form for the SW franchise. Empire Magazine gave it five stars. Empire has since re-reviewed it and given it three (which, as a SW fan, I now think is still generous), and I think many of the fans have got over the initial relief of virtually no Jar Jar to find a very weak movie underneath. At the time, I was giddy about the film. Now I have all six on my DVD shelf, it's the only one that bores and annoys me in equal measure.

Keeping in mind this is in the original format & not when they added that god awful cgi Jabba in A New Hope :eek: thou was cleverly done when they added Anakin at the end of ROTJ as his younger self before he turned.

The prequels wasn't too bad except for f'ing Jar Jar - Still at least Ms Portman made up for the bad parts :D.
 
Return of the Jedi (I like that it concludes it all and the battles are fantastic)
Empire Strikes Back (DARK DARK DARK)
Star Wars - A New Hope (Makes my heart soar watching them in order and the opening credits of this as it was the first)

And then...if I MUST and it is reluctantly as I disliked all of them:
Revenge of the Sith (Dark, but too much CGI and very little 'heart' really)
Phantom Menace (I hate that child and that stupid Binks and this ruined everything for me)
Attack of the Clones (bad plot, bad acting, bad script, I cared so little about any of it. And Christopher Lee was underused. Which is saying something as he hammed it up!)

But I love the original 3 and could watch them all day. So, to the person who said there are only 3, I agree with the sentiment.

That's the order in which they give me most enjoyment - not the order of best to worst.
 
1) Empire
2) Star Wars (none of that New Hope bollocks)
3) Jedi
4,5,6) The other three (they are all just as shite as each other)

6. Phantom Menace (a film about trade bloackades is dull whether it is set in space or not)
