in the reaction,
Br2(aq)+HCOOH(aq) -->2H+(aq)+2Br-(aq)+CO2(aq)
what would happen if we added more HCOOH to the equation. i think that since is a weak acid it will partly dissociate forming the following chemical equation
HCOOH-->H+ + HCOO- but this is the part where i am stuck. I am not sure if by adding more formic acid to the equation at equilibrium, the rate will increase. Bear in mind also that we are talking about the rate law. This is very confusing and i have a resport that is due in 4 hours. PLEASE HELP. Does the formate ion inteact with the bromine ion and is that what causes the rate of formation to decrase? or is a reverse reaction ? ah i dont know..help me. please
