Rare movies you have stumbled upon....

Made In USA - Lori Singer, Chris Penn, Adrian Pasdar - 80s American teen angst, road trip, environmental movie with an excellent soundtrack by Sonic Youth. I still have a VHS ex-rental copy, never been released on dvd in any region afaik.

Cronos by Guillermo del Toro, whose most recent film was Pans Labyrinth.

Am confused by some of the comments on imdb, although it's superficially a horror film it's actually far from it. It's shot through with GdTs fairytale look on things.

Lovely film.

And I've a real soft spot for the HuRABucker Proxy not exactly rare or maybe even little known but it always seems to get looked over in the Coen Bros repertoire.

Friend at work has boondock saints so i'll get that off her!

Oh boy you got me started!
Salvation starring Stephen McHattie and music by Arthur Baker and New Order, a rather strange but watchable arthouse American movie.
Then there is Static, with Keith Gordon, directed by Mark Romanek who worked on music videos and One Hour Photo some 15 years after Static. Again a strange set up about seeing heaven through a home built device, but very cool!
2 movies I took a punt on and to my knowledge hasn't been seen in the UK on DVD or even TV is a rather excellent homage/love letter to film director Mario Bava with Jason Schwarztman, Billy Zane, G

I agree - this was a fantastic film and should have had much more publicity. Both Val Kilmer and Robert Downey Jr were sensational in it.

On Deadly Ground (1994) It starred Steven Seagal (who also directed) and Michael Caine.

The movie bombed upon it release and to be honest it is a pretty poor film and the acting is dreadful but it's got some good action sequences and it worth watching just to see Michael Caine's hair which he had dyed jet black for the movie and it knocks about 20 years off him.

It is not available in the UK, I bought it on Region 1 DVD for about

I once recorded a film on the video by just pressing record and letting it run. After watching the film I intended to tape the start of the following film caught my eye so I watched that too. It was Man on the Moon and is about the life of an American performer called Andy Kauffman. I had not heard of him before the film but I loved his twisted, childish sense of humour and it turned into quite a moving film for me. I've watched it several times since.

Dead Man's Shoes, starring Paddy Considine as a squaddie returning home to deal with a gang who has made his brother's life a misery.

UK film, very gritty, utterly brilliant acting, especially by PC who is so very menacing without being shouty.

Caught this on Film4 last month and it blew me away

I have recorded this, and have yet to watch it. It did sound very good.

My "rare movie" of choice is "The Station Agent". A wonderful film. There are certain physical characteristics I have in common with the lead, so it was a very soul searching film for me!
