Rank Saw Movies I-V

Hey everyone,

With Saw VI being released this year and could possibly be the final one.

I thought maybe it would be fun to rank all the Saw's so far I-V.

However i do love all the Saw movies and do not hate any of them, this is just a rough opinion of mine.

My Rankings are as follows :

1 being the best and 5 being the worst.

1. Saw IV
2. Saw III
3. Saw V
4. Saw II
5. Saw I

I know some of you are thinking....how can you put number 1 the worst one, i mean dont get me wrong, i love it as it sets up but the only fault i can see in it is that its just one trap all the way through which is the bathroom. Unless you count Amanda.

The problem I have with the saw movies is I can't bleedin' remember what's gone on in most of them, I remember the first and the the last one (I only watched it a few days ago) but in between it's like all one big blur.

My favourite was the one with the house, the detective blokes son and the needle pit, part two I think.

UltraViolet, you have it spot on (IMO) in terms of quality.I do understand where the original poster is coming from when he lists the first as his worst. There is a perverse appeal to these movies and number 1 now feels like the tamest of the lot.

I think this is probably the best 'horror' franchise ever made.None of the other franchises have been this consistent.

Yeah exactly. They do not decline in quality like the Elm Street, Halloween or Friday 13th did.

They are all perfect, there is still more to say and they are continually please us.

1) Saw (A brilliant little thriller with a jaw dropping twist. If anyone says they saw THAT coming i respectfully call them a liar)
2) Saw II
3) Saw III
4) Saw IV
5) Saw V (90 minutes of shite committed to film)

These films have decreased in quality each year, and that's coming from someone who is actually a fan of the movies (apart from Saw V, which was terrible in just about every way imo. The traps were mediocre at best, the acting was abysmal, not a single likable character, there wasn't a twist, and the ending was rubbish).

I don't hold out much hope for Saw VI, but i will still see it because after watching 5 films i feel that i have to (lol). I'll probably give Saw V another chance nearer to Saw VI's release like i did with Saw IV (which i initially hated too, but liked upon repeat viewing).

I don't think I would have seen it coming but unfortunately some idiot told me the twist before I saw it, but it was still a powerful twist knowing it too, wish I had not known.

  1. Saw III - I didn't like it on first viewing, but over time I've come to appreciate it as the most emotional Saw. Amanda's story.
  2. Saw II - used to be my favourite, but rewatching it now I find it a bit pedestrian. Love the twists.
  3. Saw IV - solid. I liked the flashbacks of Jigsaw's earlier life.
  4. Saw I - the twist didn't work for me, nor did the first few moments. It also has the worst acting.
  5. Saw V - the further we get from Jigsaw's death, the harder it is to believe. However, I've only seen it once so may reappraise later.
