Hi all! I am trying to figure out what med I can take that doesn't have an artificial sweetner in it. I have some Ranitidine from last spring when I first started having problems. I googled it and it said it is the generic version of Zantac. That being so, it does have Aspartame and makes me ill.

Does anyone know more about Ranitidine? Have you had success with it?

Hey tammy, I dont know much about randitine but thats what i got earlier this year(summer time) and it didnt do anything then but i only took a few doses, and then a month or so ago i tried it again and i noticed i just didnt feel good so i stopped taking it and took zantac and that has not made me feel sick one bit.

Hope that helps :)

OK thanks for letting me know. I just am not sure what med to get.
Here is a list the doctor gave me to pick one. Please let me know if any of you have tried any of these:

RABEPRAZOLE
LANSOPRAZOLE
PANTAPRAZOLE
ESOMEPRAZOLE
FAMOHIDINE
NIZATIDINE
AND THE OF COURSE RANITIDINE

Do any of these sound like any that any of you have used?? If so do they have artificial sweetners in them? I really need help. Thanks!

Esomeprazole is NEXIUM, which is a different class of drugs than Zantac. Nexium has a website, and I would also consider consulting with your pharmacist--they really know (or should) the make up and functioning of these drugs. Nexium is also expensive if you don't have a drug plan. I take Nexium AND Zantac, b/c they work in different ways. I was just taking Nexium initially, and that was doing the trick for a while. I had absolutely no side effects from it. It is supposed to be good for helping to heal the esophagus.

Ok so I haven't found a pharmicist yet that will help me with finding the right drug. They are still searching. I did talk to the pharmicist about Pepcid AC. We read the package together and so far we think there are no artificial sweetners in it. I am going to call the nuraber on the package tomorrow. But it looks like something I can take. If so ....hurrah!! Finally something that may help me.
