Random UA's and my Doctor

hey guys, alright im currently on oxycodone immidiate release 5mg (buldging disks, and herniated), 5mg Valium (for anxiety). the first time i went to my spine doctor she gave me hydrcodone 5mg 4/day, but i called and said i was allergic to tylenol (i really am, makes me nautious) so she switched me to oxycodone imm rel 5mg,and perscribed me to take 2 a day, but i didnt get that, i thought it was supposed to be 4 a day like usual. so i called in after 15 days for a refill and the secretary said that what i was given was for a month, and i was only supposed to take 2 a day, not 4. so when i next saw my doctor she asked me why when i returned my hydrocodone that 30 were missing, i explained to her that i didnt get my perscrip until the next monday, and she understood that i was still taking them with food. the she asked why i took 4 instead of two oxy a day, i said that i thought same rules applied and that i didnt think 4 was wrong cause it worked, so she perscribed me oxy imm rel 5mg, 120/month, 4/day. and said that i can get my next refill in a month and didnt have to see here for two months, but i have to come in to get it cause its oxy imm release. so when a month was up i did, but b4 the secretary would give me the perscription i had to take a UA. my psychiatrist and her are in contact and know what meds im on. so i had to fill out a sheet of what meds i was on, and sigh it, at the time i was on three 5mg valium and four oxy a day. but i was around my friends alot when they smoke pot,and i did get high from contact, so i was worried that it would show, even though i dont do it myself. so i peed in the cup and it wasnt enough, so i stayed an extra 45 min and drank 8 classes of water and waited till i had too piss. finally i went into the bathroom and forced out a little but not enough, so i put some water in my mouth and put just a little in the cup. when i gave the secretary the cup she couldnt get a temperature reading again, and the other secretary said dont worry about it. this was a medical UA, not a dipstick wallgreens one. then the secretary gave me my perscrip. but i am wondering, i havent heard back from my doctor, would she have called me if there was a problem, like not enough oxy or valium in my system, or too much, or if weed was present? please answer, im very nervous and dont know what to expect or say to her if there are problems? any advice would make me feel alot better!

i am wondering why you would put water in your mouth and place it into the cup at all? they can tell if your specimen is diluted in some cases,it all depends upon what type of testing they use. as far as what will actually show up in that UA,its really kind of hard to say,for kind of the same reasons, and the thresholds they use. some are more sensitive than others. i would seriously doubt that just by being in a room where people are smoking pot, that it would show up in a UA,it would have to me IN your system at a certain level. how long before that UA was that exposure?

the thing is here, you are beholden to that doc who is rxing your pain meds. you need to do things in the right way from now on or you could lose that privledge. believe me,you would not be the first. most of us who see an actual pain doc are also under a contract with them where they can do random UAs and pill counts whenever you are asked to do so,among other things. you just have to do exactly what you are told by whoever is rxing your pain meds and try and avoid any situation that could compromise that relationship and your ability to just obtain the meds you need for your pain.

its kind of hard to say whether or not they found anything in your UA that was not supposed to be there. they may be waiting to see you for your next visit to ask some questions or everything may be just fine too.you just really wont know for certain til that next fill is due or you have the next follow up visit with that rxing doc. thats just kind of the way things are when it comes to UAs. just do not ever do what you did he last time,K? make sure you are hydrated before every visit just in case they ask you to do the pee in a cup thing for them. i have to do this too once a year. always random, but i prepare ahead anyways. unfortunetly i do think you will just have to wait and see what did or did not pop up at your next visit. there are way too many factors that simply play into what any given UA will or will not show. just make certain to stay on what you are rxed and nothing more and this wont be an issue again,ya know? please keep me posted as to how things go. good luck, FB

Is it even possible to get "high" from being in the same room as someone who is smoking pot??? I truly have not heard that before. Not that I guess it couldn't happen though.
Unfortunately you have had quite a few "red flags" happening to you that doctor may have concerns about. Not that I don't believe you but doctors are very suspicious when it comes to anything out of the norm when they are prescribing narcotic medications.
I mean you were taking your medication the wrong way which doesn't make sense to me because when you received the prescription didn't it say how to take it and how much to take and when? Also wasn't those directions also on the bottle?
Plus putting water in your cup like that is almost a sure sign that something is just not right. That is a huge "red flag". If I would do that my doctor would immediately let me go. But I don't know if they can tell that you did this. My guess is that they are able to detect the water in the cup.
I don't know if you will find out how this will turn out until you see your doctor next. Or until you need your prescription refilled. They will probably want to see you before you get this prescription refilled if there is a problem.
I wish all the luck in the world. Because to be honest, I think you are going to need it. I can only go by what my doctor's contract that she had me sign before she prescribed my medication in the beginning. This contract is what all patients usually sign before they receive their medication therapy. And according to what happened to you there are quite a few things that were done that were not allowed and would result in a dismissal.
I'm not trying to scare you. I'm just letting you know how it usually works and to prepare you if this should happen to you.
Take Care,
Chris
