And yet non-profit organizations (business/association of people) discriminate all the time in the US. Discriminatory NAACP scholarships and no gays allowed in boy scouts.

There's no doubt that part of the financial crisis lays with the banks, part with the people, and part with the government. As I said, the government needs to strictly regulate the financial sector because the government has given that sector the ability to create money with no actual value behind it.

enters a gray area when that individual doesn't provide essential property to a certain group of people when they need it, right?

explain, mr. rand jr., how somebody with an abundance of water in white desert refuses to provide water to people from black desert who are visiting white desert, and subsequently the black desert people get sun-stroke. who determines what property is? and who gives anybody the right to enforce who 'owns' property? how are the 'rights' of the multiple individuals marginalized by the rights of the single individual?

The general population does not need to go to your house. The general population does, however, need the groceries/gasoline/clothing typically provided by private businesses.

If you were being peaceful about it, no. Obviously if you're shouting anything during a church cermon you're disrupting the peace.

if you were bothering the others, they'd ask you nicely to leave. If you fail to leave, it would be trespassing.

She's so gay that she'll probably breast feed some wayward orphan on next week's show.

On a practical level, he could have explained to her that this isn't actually an issue because a private business owner can call his establishment a "private club" with a 5 dollar membership fee, and then discriminate all he wants. He touched on it for a nanosecond, but I think he could have explained it more fully.

"Do you think a business owner should have the right to discriminate?"

"He already does. The CRA doesn't prevent him from reestablishing his business as a private club, which can discriminate as much as it wants. If you support the CRA, then you support that."

Nigga should have me on staff spinning shit.

I am not racist.

Its not just being able to walk into a black bar and order a burger and a beer and watch the game.

this opens the door for qualified women to not be hired, fat people to not be hired, disabled people to not be hired, minorities to not be hired based on race only. Without the law, there is no stigma to such racism. did you people really think racism went away? HA!

its a fucking joke. if the rest of the world wasn't up their armpits in alligators with the financial crisis we would be the laughing stock of the world, clinging to what the founders had in mind 230 years ago when they wrote the constitution.

what they had in mind was extending just enough liberties to keep the poor whites appeased and keep the blacks in slavery. Just enough revolt to release the colonies from the british, but not enough to overthrow the power structure in the colonies themselves. go go gadget libertarians!

I know they won't like to hear that, but that was the realpolitik considerations behind the constitution/ bill of rights etc.

and now they want to make descrimination by private enterprise legal.

cable companies are not a monopoly in the true sense anymore. Technology has reduced barrier to entry substantially.-- dish, fios, direct tv etc. prior to that, I think you had to live with it. You can't take up the entire right of way with 15 different companies running their shit through the road for the same product. RX work is expensive enough as it is.

garbage service? I don't believe thats a monopoly. I think most municipalities have competitive bids for the right to perform trash hauling.

taxicabs? I mean, you have to pay for the license to operate a cab, but I don't believe there is one firm that operates all of a cities cabs.

1st class mail? maybe they could open that up for bid, but it sort of makes sense to have the government do that. after all, a large part of what is being delivered belongs to them anyway.

Too bad he did, no guts. He let the closet racists spin it against him, and instead of clarifying it better and putting them in check, he allowed them to crucify him and he folded like a bad poker hand.

Whatever.

Doesn't have to, the Constitution wasn't written to grant rights, it was written to prevent government from infringing upon your rights. Huge difference in application and ideology.

So... I only watched long enough to see the 2 quotes. Didn't watch the interview yet.

Anyway, I highly doubt he is racist, even if that was what his comments were spun to look like. I disagree with his notion that restaurants and what not should be allowed to discriminate on their customers. But whatever.

and I repeat......"so?"

then why was institutionalized racism either gone or on the way out in many areas before the civil rights act?

you're embarrassed NOW that this guy wants the govt out of private business and as your example you give the document that puts in ink that black people are only worth 3/5th of a man?
