Hey Pepper you are good. My granRABon who is 13 is staying with me during the day and if he even hears me up walking around he comes in to see what I am doing. He has been a lifesaver to me taking our little doggie down the steps and out to go pee.

Laf,
your body only can tell you when you are ready. I had it for about 2 month, some people need it for longer.
Good luck with it, make sure you are comfortable and pain free in there.
Best wishes!

Okay I am 5ft 9 and found toilets so low. I got two toilet seat raised toilets, for downstairs and one in the ensuite, I didnt put one in the main bathroom as it wouldnt look weird when people called. But it is only in the last 2 months that I got rid of them. and that was 6 months post op. I just found them comfortable and got used to it. The disadvantage was though when you were out you were looking at this toilet and it seem so so low.... I just found a slight pull, bending down..............as I wasnt used to going that low. So my advice is if you are more comfortable using them keep doing it.

Thanks Emily..................

As I'm sure you know....It's so difficult being a type A...(neat nik) and being alone much of the day. I kept wanting to straighten things out...

I do have my boyfriend and frienRAB coming by at the end of the day, but this stuff drives me crazy during the day..

Last night I made pasta and couldn't lift the pot to dump the pasta, had to lift out bunches with a slotted spoon....Then I had the full pot of water couldn't dump it and took the water out cup by cup........Going out for a bite with frienRAB tonight.:D

Today I will take my walk and then lay low..

Many thanks...

That made me laugh! I filled pots the same way after my surgery, 2 cups at a time with the pot already on the stove. Yes, it's hard for us type A's!

Thanks, frienRAB, for the encouragement! When I complain, I need to put it in perspective. Wed. night I went out to dinner and then to the theatre, walked up stairs and walked several blocks to where hubbie had found a parking spot...and never thought twice about it. Prior to surgery, I could not have stood or walked at all, so there is progress. I just had a glimpse of feeling great that lasted about a week, so I thought it would continue!!

I made myself go through a bunch of stretches and exercises yesterday and I think it helped. At least it didn't make things worse. But then last night my legs were feeling very very tired.

I think I will take it easy and then start over on Monday!! The nurse told me to try tylenol for the pain...but it doesn't do a thing.

xx M:(M

After my fusion last year, I used the rising toliet from February until Septeraber.

Then I had surgery in Noveraber and I am still using it. I was just thinking about putting it away but because of my latest fall I am going to keep it around for awhile. I don't need to fall again.

Hi Lynda. Don't worry about measuring of time of when you think you should be beyond use of a helpful gadget or feel you should be at a certain level in your healing and ability to get things done.

We are all wired differently and our bodies are just the same. You use any gadget you need for as long as you feel you still need it. As to the grabber.. my 2 year post op anniversary is coming up in April, and I still use the two I bought in my home and at my job to this day. They are very handy when you need them or that you know you've done too much bending for the day, etc.

My doc said let pain be my guide. I was up and down my stairs of my home starting at day 4. It took me forever in the beginning and I limited how many trips I would make in the beginning and such, but eventually was able to do it faster and faster and with less pain and discomfort. It takes time.

You sound like you are doing just great. You keep that up and don't overdo. Im a "type A" myself! Pretend to be a "B" for awhile! hahaha.:D

Thanks Moldova...How did your appt. with Dr. C go???

Kyma.........how long ago was your surgery?..Yes it's tricky, finally when you are feeling better you really do want to do more, but then you're surprised when you can't....As someone suggested do half of what you would like to......It's just hard to pace yourself in a different way...It's re-learning your " new" return.

Thank you ALL for your tips...Such a big help, I was getting a bit down expecting more from myself.........You guys ROCK....it's great to have "spine buddies"...This really is a great board........

Laurinda;)

Diet....How are you feeling...What did the Dr. day..I hope all is ok....

Round 1.......you are too funny..........Yep I bet that would be the perfect solution for you both...

I decided to keep it, glad I did...I was feeling a strained area on my butt cheek, I think it's from getting in and out of the car with the brace...But sitting taller on the raised seat, especially in the middle of the night will be a relief.

ANOTHER question ladies.........I have been doing my own laundry, nothing too heavy just some towels, t-shirts and undies...and using my grabber to take the things out of the washer...is this ok after 7 weeks....It feels ok? I'm back at my place and it's a challenge being alone and waiting for frienRAB to stop by to help...I don't imagine that's too much weight???

Have a good evening...
