Rain Man Movie vs Theater

Hi,

"You are my maine man" is the last sentence of the amazing theater play based on the movie Rain Man (with Tom Cruise). The leading actors were the good-looking Hollywood star Josh Hartnet and an impressive Adam Goodley. The play was fascinating, interesting and cheerful. Goodley adopts his role of the disabled Raimond like he has never done something else. Hartnet abandon his status as a Hollywood beau and shows the audience his talent as an actor on stage.
But I have never seen the movie Rain Man with Cruise/ Hoffmann. I read this morning in "Metro" that they differ from each other. Can somebody compare or tell me about the film?
There is also an interesting discussion on Rain Man, it would be nice if you can join too:

It's probably because no-one else has got to see it as it officially opens on 19 September. You obviously went to a preview

I did get this from thisislondon.co.uk:

For one thing, adaptation for the stage has necessitated the excision of a big Hollywood-y chunk of the script, namely the car-based scenes in the road trip Charlie and Raymond take to Las Vegas. The story has been updated to the present day and the character of failed cardealer Charlie aged from midtwenties to early thirties, which should make his disillusioned cynicism more credible.

The play started on 28th of August! I have been there at 29/08/08 and I am not a VIP or special guest who is predestinated to see the play earlier than others:confused:! I don't know why the article quotes a wrong date of opening????
I have been there already....But thanks for your reply:D

I saw Rain Man at the theatre on my 17th birthday (29th September) and it was fab! :) Defenantly the best show i've ever seen at a theatre! (and Josh Hartnett is gorgeous!)

Unfortunately I read a lots of bad reviews on it and I still cannot understand why?! Adam Godley was brilliant and we don't have to loose a word on gorgeouse Josh....excellent :p How long will it be shown in London? Anybody knows?

Adam Godley is wonderful but Josh and Mary Stockley not so much (bloomin awful when I saw it early on) so vote for the film being better as it had a more balanced cast.

Thanks Starrybunnii :)
I agree that Mary Stockley is not the best actress on stage but her influence on the whole play isn't as big. I mean a better cast for the female role would have been better but she is ok. Still can't understand why the critics are bad....:p
