RahXephon...

I never really liked the series from the beginning. But recently I started watching it because of a severe lack of super robot shows. And as it turn out... although RahXephon may be considered a super robot, this certainly is not your average super robot show.

I still don't really like it, though at least I found myself amused once I reached the ending. But was all that it really worth my time?

Arrrgh.

I personally thought RahXephon should have been a 12/13 episode anime at most. Most of the middle episodes just seem like filler. The psychological part of the story did save it from being a terrible show for me, though.

Really? Personally I thought the psychological part was actually the worst. The lack of action right until the last episode kinda made me perplexed and annoyed.

I do like the conclusion though, but it makes all their previous struggle seem kind of pointless.

Eh, I guess I liked the psychological part since I like an action series to offer other genres too, so to not seem like one of those action series with excessive use of "Epic fight scene" episodes.

I didn't like the series to begin with, I was Evangelion 100%, but then it grew on me. The show did have a lot filler episodes that it could've done without, but I did like the psychological aspect. The ending was pretty abrupt but the movie gives us that extra bit of information that made me happy with the way everything turned out.

Fans of the series always say that the movie was good, but I'm just too scared to touch it.
Perhaps I was disappointed simply because I was hoping to see an ordinary super robot show.

I just bot the box set of this show that includes the movie. Well I bought it about a month ago, and the first few episodes make it hard for me to want to watch the whole thing. Does it get any better later on? Right now I am just finding a bunch of slow talking. Is that what the entire series is like???

Wow. I feel for you, pal. Well, it doesn't really change much in the atmosphere.

The best I can say is that it doesn't grow on you immediately, but it kinda takes you on kinda slow. Like I said, I never really liked it. Though I still had some enjoyment from it. I guess in the end what made me finish it was simply my curiosity to know the fate of the characters.

In all honesty, I hated RahXephon.

It made no sense what so ever.
The series looked gorgeous and the initial plot was awesome.
The idea of Jupiter concealing an entire population from the world was intriguing.
Once they moved outside of that, I really have no clue what was going on most of the time.
The only thing I remeraber from that series, vividly, is how to drink Ramune Drinks properly.

The end was equally as insane.
I have no idea why that happened or why it was needed.

The best way I can sum up the series is:
Guy is oblivious to the truth.
He has memories of some girl with no explanation.
Girl with no explanation is killed?
He is not of the world and can pilot some ridiculous thing.
He fights alien stuff.
Alien stuff breaks loose, his frienRAB end up dying around him.
Some more confusing stuff happens.
World is destroyed, somehow.
World is then reborn, somehow.
Memories of girl with no explanation becomes important to his livelihood.
- The End

Evangelion copycat, fail.

I thought this series was better then NGE by far. It had some elements that were in NGE but no mech anime is completely original. Even the first mech anime created took alot of ideas and plots from science fiction novels. If you pay attention to the story it actually makes more sense then NGE. The characters in my opinion have better personalitys and are more interesting. I also found the mech design's more appealing.

How? How does RahXephon make sense?

It was like a mix of a bunch of Sci-Fi novels put into a cannon, shot over an ocean, gathered by sea lions who happened to wash up on shore randomly and then harvested for the pages of what ever novel they came from in the order in which they found, then shuffled by a casino dealer and they called that a story: RahXephon.

At least with NGE, you could understand it by watching it and it made sense that way.
If you wanted to dig deeper, you could benefit from it.
They didn't have random characters come in and out of the story for the sake of being there on a whim.

NO! FOR ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED TO START WATCHING THIS SERIES, I RECOMMEND YOU NOT!!!

There really isn't much to get from watching it. I have to admit that the music and designs were great. But only that. The story lacks any morale value. The development of characters are downright bizarre, to say the least. And I made this thread simply because I can't understand how the hell can someone give full marks for the last episode!
