Raggedy Ann and Andy ever comeback?

Over the last decade or so, so many franchises has attempted comebacks, some were sucessful like Scooby Doo and Transformers. While others failed, and I have no examples because no remembers them.

So it is not crazy to think that somebody may think they can revive the Raggey Ann and Andy franchise. They (or she to be more exact, Ann was a solo act in the beginning) in the early 20th century, and they have movies and tv shows in the 70's and 80's. And it is not really forgetting thanks to shows like Family Guy and South Park for mentioning them on multiple occations.

Anyway did they ever come close to developing another series or a movie, or series of movie specials?

If they ever did, my guess is it would be CGI.

What I would do, is set the show in another universe, eliminate the whole toys come to life part, and set is in a world full of anthrophomic characters.

There were a couple of Raggedy Ann and Andy prime-time specials that were produced by Chuck Jones Enterprises: Raggedy Ann & Andy in The Great Santa Claus Caper (1978) and Raggedy Ann and Andy in The Pumpkin Who Couldn't Smile (1979). Both specials premiered on CBS. There was also a RA&A Saturday morning series that ran for a single season about a decade later, IIRC, which I've never seen, so I can't tell you much about it.

If there are any current plans to revive the franchise, I haven't heard anything about it.

Since most kids never heard of them, and they have only appeared in recent years on shows like Family Guy and South Park, maybe they should make a show for Adult Swim.

There are no plans that I know of. Heck, I grew up in the 80s and wasn't even aware there was a TV show or a series of movies/specials until more recently. I do believe I had an Ann doll, though.

I don't think most kids these days know they exist unless given one of the dolls or something. And I've never seen them where toys are sold (at least in places like Target and Toys R Us), you have to go online to find them. It's a shame since they're so cute and sweet.

Somebody with the money to spare would have to step up and get attention for it, maybe by releasing a special edition of the dolls and putting them in stores, or putting the LONG out of print movie on DVD. If nothing else, they could try to appeal to nostalgic adults.

I remember I had a Raggedy Ann and Andy book on 45 vinyl. I thought they were two characters from some magical land. I thought the two of them were gingerbread kids.

I don't remember much about the movie specials and the tv series, but the books were very good.

But it wasn't until recently that I found that the two were brother and sister. Lots of couples think it is cute to dress up as them for Halloween, well if they do, they should know they are siblings.

My favorite toy growing up was a Raggedy Ann doll. :)

I think to revive the franchise, they'd have to "update" and "reimagine" Raggedy Ann - which would basicly kill it, as far as I'm concerned. Best to leave that one in obscurity. :P

I guess by "update" you mean dress Ann up in more fansy cloths, and thus she would not be Raggedy Ann. Or dress them up in more gheto hip hop clothes. That would be kind of funny.

Anyone ever read any of the books? or have any of the books read to them?, they are mostly very old, but they are very entetaining kids stories, and probably the best part of the story telling part of the franchise. I think Raggedy Ann was book before she was a doll, at least a commercial doll.

Yep. I'd rather not have Raggedy Ann turning into another Bratz type thing. The Bratz are creepy enough as it is. XD

And I do recall reading some of the books... the only one offhand is The Magic Pebble.

I have an idea that I have had for who knows how long for a movie, it updates the characters but still gives something for the old fans that they always was curious of seeing, at least I was. That is for Raggedy Ann and maybe Raggedy Andy, but Ann in particular to become human.

Ann feeling useless and thinking there is more out there, one day they find a genie, Ann wishes to be a living human (it is a rip off of Pinocheo I know, but bare with it), and the genie turns her into a teenage or pre teen girl. And maybe turn Andy into a boy. His role is a secondary, doesn't really matter, it is all about Ann and her learning experience.

My guess is Ann would be a middle school studen, Andy an elementory school student. And they find out what is like to live in the real world. In the end, of course they wish themselfs back into dolls after seeing how tough the real world is.
