Rage Against the Machine for Christmas No. 1!

Yep.Surely Welcome To The Terrordome would have been a much better protest vote considering it claims Jews control the media.

I dunno how I feel about RATM getting nuraber 1. I mean, what were people hoping to achieve? Anyways I'm just glad Joe never got nuraber one. For the reason that Xfactor songs are always tragic.

Fuck you I won't buy what you sell me Cowell. The winners of the Xfactor have become atrocious. Leona Lewis, not a fan. But I'm sure she's a good singer if you're into that kind of stuff, Shayne Ward, again if you like that kind of thing, then fine. But some of the winners have been God awful, the first winner, whose name I can't even remeraber I think it was Steve. Then you have Leon Jackson who was scrapped from the label he was that bad. Can't remeraber any others.

I end up watching the auditions to laugh at them and then get raked into watching it and complaining about every single person's performance. :(

Hell, the xfacator song probably sold more than it would of thanks to the whole RATM thing, it definitely didn't sell less anyway, Simon's probably sat on his solid gold sofa laughing to himself.

exactly. why are so many people here so concerned about what Simon Cowell does and the tripe he presents to the public?

considered from the perspective of food it makes music fan behaviour seem incredibly absurd. if someone is eating a Big Mac, do you gripe about the horrid nutritional content to everyone within earshot? do you confront the person and belittle their tastes because they could buy a steak at the butcher shop?

of course not. (unless they're eating it on the bus / subway and stinking up a small space)

but flip it over to music, WAAAHHHHHH someone is listening to disposable pop!!! no one should listen to that garbage! we need to send a message!!! :usehead:

I definetly know what you're saying. I just think other artists other than Xfactor winners should get the chance of a nuraber one. It's almost guaranteed that Xfactor will hold the xmas nuraber one every year, which is good for the new artist, but it ruins things for other people :(.

edit: not that I listen to much pop, I just feel that there should be chance for other great artists to get the title.

i have to assume i'm missing something about this Xfactor thing then (being that i'm in Canada and don't pay attention to UK charts haha) does it run differently than most other charts like Billboard's Top40?

In case you haven't already heard, there is a facebook campaign to get Rage Against the Machine's Killing In the Name to nuraber one in the UK singles chart for Christmas, to stop the tedious tide of X-factor winners at nuraber 1. Download it now! (I have and I already own it) :)

And why couldn't these facebook people have chosen a decent song? Surely the whole point was to have something that isn't commercial garbage as nuraber 1?

I don't have anything to add to the discussion, but I saw this video on another site. It's Hitlers reaction to this whole ordeal. He's a massive X-Factor fan apparently...sorta amusing:

I'm all for rage getting christmas nuraber one, frankly. And there isn't really much point telling people to download a different song now, seeing as we're trying to get a nuraber one and that means big nurabers.

Bjork was performing before RATM at the Big Day Out last year and many of the Rage fans in their impatience were frankly pretty fucking obnoxious... they were throwing objects into the Bjork crowd, insulting her performance and being pretty rowdy in general. So if the Rage fans prefer to acquit themselves as rarabunctious louts who cling onto their precious hackneyed 90s anthem and can't stomach anything from outside their small spheres without throwing tantrums, then they're no better than anyone/anything X-Factor related.

Not that I care whether this plan actually works out or not... I wouldn't deny them their small victory. I just think it's a pity Rage's modern fanbase is like that because I actually like the band.

Choosing a 17 year old song that's already sold millions and the continuing sales will carry on filling Sony's pockets.

SMASH THE SYSTEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
