so i was fixing my radio, i was just re tapping and i forgot to take off the negative on the battery. so when i was doing this i took 3 off at a time and then re tapped them. i sneezed and my hand moved and the battery wire touched the ground wire. so bassicly it sparked..i could hear it. i check the radio fuse (one built on to the aftermarket radio) and i check the fuse under the dash...both fine...

did i blow something major? could it just be the radio shorted out or i blew it out? oh and i checked EVERY FUSE. every single one was fine.

thanks

Actually, I'd still suspect a blown fuse. It's the only realistic possibility.

Often, I have to troubleshoot cars that have no power to the head unit. Almost always, the customer tells me "I checked all the fuses". The first thing I do, every time, is check the fuses myself; and nine times in ten I find a blown one. It's not that the customers are lying. It's that most people don't know where to look for all the fuses, and don't know the right way to check them.

Just about every vehicle will have two fuses in the fuse box that supply power to the head unit. One fuse is for the constant power supply, and another for the switched power. Often one of the fuses isn't labeled as a "radio" fuse, and it's often located in the fuse box under the hood--not the interior cabin fuse box.

The easiest, quickest, and most accurate way to check your fuses it to use a digital multimeter. Here's a guide: http://kzcarfi.blogspot.com/2008/08/testing-vehicle-fuses-with-multimeter.html
