The funny thing is that I put 55555555 in as a pin and I got EDGE but could not register with the network (surely invalid pin)...
Valid PINs from switched off BBs only give me edge....

nonono ok you need to either use the loader to set the phone in service mode or use mfi/mff

loader is quicker...
the 1 on the screen is the state that mff/mfi leaves the phone in once it completes its process...

use the loader its quicker....
