Lack of understanding in this thread is staggering

Sharia law doesn't just mean cutting off hands and stoning women. Muslims wanted some of their laws to be recognised when it comes to religious things like marriage, divorce etc. The sharia judges don't have any real legal power but they wanted them to official recognised as arbitrators to solve muslim-muslim disputes according to their traditional rules, rather than simply the rule of law. It's no different to hiring an arbitrator before going to court.

And the UK is around 2% muslim at the moment, and they are mostly in 3 cities.. so I don't see us being over-run any time soon
