Racism In The Recent US Elections?

I just asked this question yesterday:

Most are saying yes:

A) so was the racism from the media overt meaning did anyone in the media mention that we can't vote for Obama be cause he is black

B) Or was the racism subtle like for example those in the media saying something like he is a muslim or mentioning the fist jab between obama and Michelle as a terrorist fist jab.

Please only answer in the context of the media and not what the general population was thinking. Also I am sorry if I offended anyone with my username, I used that as I have an addiction to Oreo Cheescakes.

Obama used the perception of a vote against Obama then your racist by his supporter even on Y!A.

The only one who ever said anything about Obama being black was OBAMA!
 
I think that first of all, the media only reflected the race card as a benefit of Obama. They wanted people to vote for him because he was black. They constantly pointed out that he was the first black Presidential candidate to e running for a major party. They repeatedly pointed out that "Obama crosses racial lines" to make him seem more appealing to the whites that were skeptical to voting for him. And they did it all for them. Being able to cover the first black President gives their careers and their news corporation prestige over the previous generation. Now Charles Gibson or Wolf Blitzer can write editorials and books about "covering the first African-American President" and "how the 2008 election changed the world." They can all gush over their networks coverage and their personal experiences in hopes of winning a Pulitzer Prize. They can all retire and come back on Larry King in twenty years and boast of where they were during that night. And their networks are riding it all the way to the bank.

So, to me your question really doesn't reflect the reality this previous election. The media didn't shy away from his ethnicity, but embraced and juiced for everything its worth.
 
Well, if you told someone you were voting for McCain, you'd be called a racist by Obama fans. They think just cuz you agree with McCain on the ISSUES and not the skin color that you STILL aren't voting for Obama cuz he's black. That's no where near the truth. At least that's over now. Until then,
