Some people want to act as if they aren't racist, but really are. In Louisiana, where the story takes place, there are still problems with racism. In the 2008 election, 41% of Louisiana voters who voted for John McCain were asked in an exit poll if race was a factor in making their decision and answered yes . Another example of how racism is still an issue today is how the media acted during the Presidential election. For example, Fox News made a huge deal that President Obama had received 94% of the African American vote, but studied show that democrats always received around 90% of the African American vote .

People need to stop pointing their fingers...in this day and age everyone is affected by it. I personally believe that this election and believe that this administration is going to bring race out into the forefront. The part that many people don't seem to understand is that blacks are not the only people experiencing racism. We all are. It is time for everyone to take a step back (and I mean everyone). Much has changed so we need to see the equalities that have come about and start getting along. I'm tired of being called a racist because I didn't want to vote for Obama. Why does it have to be about race? I did my home work and chose my candidate based on the policies not on the color of his skin. It's time to stop the nonsense and to stop the nonsense you must speak out about racism from all different perspectives. Black people are just as racist as white people and even more so from what I've seen over the past few months. This election brought out the nastiness in people that seriously gives me a cause to be concerned about. For example, my daughter went to a friends house one afternoon to visit. They are friends that do not see eye to eye on politics and have decided to agree to disagree. However; their small child that should not even be old enough to understand asked my daughter if she didn't vote for Obama because she was racist. This my friend is cowardly. Teaching our children to hate and to be racist is the worst of the worst. As I said before...let's start addressing racism in its true form and confront all areas of concern. We are all affected by it.
