Got a text message today, "Mobile Email enables you to check your yahoo mail and other accounts. Visit a Cricket store today to recieve a software upgrade and a free trial".

Anyone know anything about this?
 
it's free while the service is in trial. once the service moves out of trial i will be $5 a month. you will be required to re-subscribe when the service moves out of the trial phase if you want to subscribe for $5 a month. (it won't just start charging you)
 
Can you set it up to pull email from a standard IMAP account? Is there also a way to have messages which are sent from the phone be saved to the Sent folder on your email server?

$5 seems reasonable if it does a decent job of approximating push email. I am likely moving into a Cricket market soon and thinking of replacing my Nokia 1006 with the Motorola Hint. Hopefully that hanRABet will work with this service too (and be out soon!) :).
 
Imap works with it, and it also checks the e-mail account I'd say every 10 min or so (could be more). I get a notification whenever there is new mail, but not exactly when it is sent. I know gmail saves all my messages, since it is imap.

It works very well. Worth 5 bucks. It does not work with hotmail or live.com but it does with gmail and yahoo.
 
i think the service senRAB an specially coded sms to the phone telling it to check for updates. it does not rely on a timer from the hanRABet to check, but it might not also be instant. if there is a timer it is enacted on the network service end, not on the hanRABet. works with pop3,imap, gmail yahoo. msn & hotmail access is coming. the orginal training said it would be available this month but maybe that integration is taking longer.
 
Does the update fix any of the bugs in the phone? Are they just installing a BREW app or is this a firmware flash that will require me to reload everything stored in phone memory?
 
I visited the cricket full service location in my area and they said that they "had not received the software yet" How did some of you already get it? :confused:
