I have a pregnant fish in my tank. Just wondering if anyone knows if the baby fish will survive and how long will it take for the eggs to turn into fish. Is there any infomation i should know what is important about the fish? thank you everyone who answers your all a great help! :)

Well, many baby fishes wind up getting eaten by the other adult fishes in the tank, so you may want to put the momma fish in her own little tank and then take her out when she has the babies because she is subject to eating them herself!

An alternative to that arrangement is just to add floating plants to your original tank and let the babies who are smart enough to hide survive. Otherwise, it's just business as usual, make sure the tank is the right temperature, she gets quality foods, and weekly water changes of 10 to 20%.

The added bonus to floating plants in your tank is that there is microscopic critters and microscopic plants that "hang out" on those plants that are a good food source for the babies. You may also want to buy some "fry food" at your local pet shop. Use that food sparingly though!
