quoting a book questionnn, please hellp!?

okay so im writing an english paper for a class and im using the quote "for the first time i realized that there were other students like me" to fit the sentence i want to change me to him, but i forget how to do this because i know i have to include somewhere that the original word was me .. is it:

"for the first time i realized that there were other students like [me] him"

or

for the first time i realized that there were other students like him [me]"

or something different? please let me knoww
