For those of you trying to kick sleep medications here's my story:
I've been using AmbienCR since the summer of 2006; not every single night but more often than not....especially the last couple of years.
Decided recently that it was time to stop relying on AmbienCR to get a good nights sleep.
Never ever suffered any ill effects from taking it.....none. Always woke up refreshed and clear headed.
The 1st night of not taking it: was more up & down than I can ever remember. If I got a total of 2 hours of sleep I'd be surprised. Felt like I was up all night.
2nd night: after dragging through the day after an almost sleep-devoid night I was so exhausted I was able to get some good solid sleep and woke up feeling much better than the night before.
3rd night: slept OK but the night sweats were a bit more than I could stand but got through it.
4th night: a good night's sleep.
5th night: another good night's sleep.
Tonight will also be Ambien-free and I believe that I'm over the worst of it.
It was relatively easy to do....especially when I remember how tough it was to quit smoking (cold turkey in 1991) and then shortly after that becoming clean and sober (alcohol) which is still a day to day struggle.
For those of you having a tough time quitting Ambien: get at least 30-60 minutes of exercise a day. I found that that helps....a LOT!
Hope this helps someone.
