Quirky films

I couldn't find a thread on this, but I'm on the search for some quirky films. I love films like Amelie and Beetlejuice - stuff that's a bit different, a bit odd.

Any recommendations?

Girl Interrupted is a classic in it's own way.

Not a film I would usually associate myself liking, but its just brilliant. That and American Beauty, probably my favourite film ever.

Makes a change from my usual Terminators, Rambos, Shawshank Redemption, Seven etc

I'm not sure if all of these meet the criteria of quirky but here goes:

Napoleon Dynamite (quirky)

I heart Huckabees (although I think I might be alone in recommending that!)

A Life Less Ordinary (yes, I admit, this is largely for Ewan McGregor).

Go

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind

If you are looking for querky movies try watching some japanese/korean ones. There are some amazing movies from that region, not just horror and martial arts, very intellegant films. Try Park Chan Wook (old boy), Takashi Miike (dead or alive), Kim Ji Woon (a bittersweet life), Kinji Fukasaku (battle royale). There are many more. For an introduction into this world try getting: 3 Extremes. It has 3 short films from 3 different directors, gives you a flavour.

Thats if you don't mind reading subtitles, unless you can understand Korean/Japanese!!!

If you want quirky from places like Japan, check out Kamikaze Girls, or My Sassy Girl type films.

To me, I adore the films, but don't see A Bittersweet Life, Battle Royale and so on as quirky.
