Quick whine when releasing clutch...downshifting only.?

Just a quick whine (almost grinding noise) when I release clutch from downshifting. Ive had the car for 5 years so I know its not the basic rev whine. This just started. Only lasts for a fraction of a second after I release the clutch from a downshift. The sound is very close, but without the deep grind and vibration, as when I release the clutch and did not have the gear in all the way. This was only on occasion, but is now on every downshift and only on rpms above 1500ish. Appreciate any help.
