im writing a dbq and it has all these little docs about how we didnot want to be with germany but we did want to connect with great britain....

the dbq essay q says "Do you feel that the involvement of the United States in world war 2 would have come without the direct attack on pearl harbor on dec 7, 1941, ordo you feel that the proponents of noninterventionwouldhave been successful in keeping the US out of war?"

so is this asking...do u think that because we didnt intervene there was war ..i just dont get the question..its really important i undestand exactly what itsasking ..i know what to do from there

The question is asking whether we would have entered the war even if Pearl Harbor hadn't happened or whether those who opposed getting involved would have succeeded in keeping us out.

Does that help?

Base your thesis on your documents, they hold all the answers. Someone could tell you their opinion, and you wouldn't be able to find support in your documents. So, ask yourself: "What are the documents saying?", "What is the purpose of the document?", "Who is speaking in the documents?". In other words, SOAP them! I think you should know what it means to SOAP a document right? If you do, the answer to your question lies there. You may find that most of the documents lean one way or the other. There could be included President Roosevelt's speech, and that could support that the U.S. only went to war because they were attacked. Or there could be a document on U.S. isolation during the start of the war and how strongly we held against entering into it.

It all depends on your documents.
