There are varying degrees of back pain. My lower back has had pain on and off for over 20 years, and I would occasionally try to get medical help for it. It might get better, then would gradually get worse. As the years went on and the degeneration got worse, I had more acutely painful episodes, which still got better with physical therapy. That was until 2007 when the MRI showed 2 bulging discs and stenosis from a ligament. Now my pain is pretty much always there, and my neurosurgeon who operated on my neck, says that my lurabar is not something surgery would help. I think you are finding people who might be in the early stages of back problems, but when an accident or fall cause an acute problem with a disc herniating or bulging and really impinging a nerve, that is really a more painful situation. I know that I have much more compassion for people who are hurting now than I used to.
