Quick Poll: Mazda 323 or Fiat Brava 1.4?

I'm choosing a second hand car this afternoon. The Brava is a bit cheaper than the Mazda and comes with tax. Both have 12m MOT from a trader and are similar years and conditions. I've read a few grumbles around the net about 1.4 Bravas having bad fuel economy though, whereas Mazdas seem to be super reliable.

Opinions please?
 
I've had both, I'm a fan of fiat, but the Mazda is more reliable, quicker, cheaper to run, and safer, only the parts cost more and space in the rear is less.
BUT
The fiat 1.4 engine is legendary for destroying itself, you will not find a top end anywhere as they are all trashed, AVOID!
