This leader proposed that black americans should not try to be equal to whites, but should except the seperate but equal principal. He founded an institute in Alabama to educate black Americans. Name HIM, the INSTITUTE he founded, and the DATE of the founding.

The man is Booker T. Washington. The institute, now a university, is Tuskegee. It was established in 1880 and officially opened in 1881.
It wasn't that Washington didn't feel that blacks should not be equal to whites. He was trying to be practical and educate black Americans to take jobs in which they would be accepted, or to become teachers, etc. who could serve the black community. This was the opposite of what people like W.E.B. Dubois proposed a few years later.
