Quick GPS question

Does gps use data? If I get tomtom for s60v3 and a bt gps receiver and I have data use (internet) blocked on my phone from my provider will it work?

you don't need data for gps.

NOPE , you don't need data with these stand alone GPS devices
something like the N95 with integrated GPS will need data, making it almost useless.

the data is only if you dont have the map on ur memory card!!

does any one know what kind of GPS chip the n95 has? if not can someone ask there "insiders" what kind of chip is in it?

my reason is some people are worried it will take like 3 min just to lock on (dont know what the term is) to the phone

Yeah and I remember reading somewhere that the N95 comes with a buttload of maps.
