QUICK ANSWER ? betta fish?

Not all bettas are fine with other fish. The one I have wont tolerate any larger fish with flowing fins ie. sailfin mollys, goldfish ect. However it will tolerate corys and other fish that are quick enough to get away ie. neon tetras, white cloud minnows.

Honestly I don't recommend putting the betta with anything other then itself or corys. Supposedly neon tetras will fin nip bettas but I personally have never seen it.

I don't really like bettas myself. They hardly move and in my opinion are just a waste of tank space. My 2 cents.

Im of to get my first betta fighting fish in a minute
know as far as i know they are fine with other fish but watch out for the fin nippers are there any fish i should not get ?

What's your tank size and is it filtered, heated and fully cycled?

Tank mates can only be considered with a Betta in a fully filtered, heated and cycled tank over 10 US gallons, and even then I would only personally recommend bottom dwellers like smaller Corydoras, such as Sterbai, they need to be kept in at least trios, in a 10 gallon only a trio would fit.

Small peaceful shoaling fish like Neon Tetras can work BUT would out compete the Betta to its dinner.

edit: Amber - Cichlids or Gouramis would make short work of a Betta! NOT recommended!

only get one male fighter and no sepra tetras they fin nippers make sure u have plants and hiding holes for him ask at the pet shop they will be able to tell u x

I agree, no tetras, however if you were thinking of getting a betta and have a nice-sized tank, I would actually suggest gouramis or cichlids if you want multiple fish (both are also aggressive, so they should be the same size and not crowded)
