questions on the Mario cartoon(s)

Okay I have two questions about the Mario TV series that I just started randomly thinking about
  1. Was there a version where Toad was called Monty? If not, was there an episode with a mushroom person named Monty? I ask this because I remember taking a real mushroom and calling it Monty.
  2. Was there any version of this show on around '93 or '94? The closest date that I see (according to Wikipedia) is '92 but I would have been only 2 or 3 I don;t think I was that young when I saw the show

Super Mario World got a lot of rerun play in my area around 1993-1994, as did Adventures of Super Mario 3.....

Monty was a mushroom in the kingdom, only for a single episode I think...

I have never seen the mario cartoons. I have seen DVD in stores but haven't bought them. Mario is probably the most popular video game character ever. Why don't they show the cartoons.

Because, as much as I enjoyed them in the past, the quality of both the writing and animation of all three shows is terrible, and it really wouldn't look good up against today's cartoons.

Having owned the first two series on DVD (and still planning on buying the third one for completions sake), I fully agree with this statement. The same goes for the Legend of Zelda series.

If any US-made Nintendo cartoon deserves to be on television, it's Captain N.

Pretty much all of the Nintenso cartoons are simple but fun trips down memory lane but yeah, they wouldn't hold up to todays fickle toon watcher. I enjoy them though.....

Just one. Only 13 episodes, aired on Fridays, replacing the Super Mario cartoons during that day. It was just as cheesy as the Mario toons, but had a more straightforward story structure.

Is it just me or did the quality go down between Super Mario Bros. Super Show and Super Mario Bros. 3? It seemed like the colors in Super Mario Bros. 3 seemed washed out when compared to Super Mario Bros. Super Show.
