Questions for Telus Contract renewal

My three-year contract with Telus is in the final 6 months, and I have some questions about renewing that the dealer reps couldn't clarify:
Are the plan/hardware offers likely to get better the longer I hold out to renew (ie. offer in November would be better than July offer)?What kind of offers am I likely to see in the next few weeks in terms of hardware upgrade (Telus' 'Free phone' offer for three-year deals)? Same deals as new activations? Better? Worse?I was looking at the SE810i on the Rogers network, but not looking to switch. What is the closest comparative phone (functions/features) with Telus?Final question: Every ringtone I download on my current Sammy is quieter than the phone's proprietary ringers, even at same volume. I continuously miss calls with the phone in my pants pocket, even with volume at max/no vibrate. Is it just the Sammy, or do all phones have this problem with Telus' downloaded ringers (ie. crappy sound files)

So I got semi-answers to #2 & 3 above over the weekend. Spoke to Retentions @ Telus who explained how the 'Free phone with renewal' works (up to $150 off MTM price of phone). I also was shocked when the rep I spoke to offered me nothing in the way of discounts on phone/renewal plan. He basically just told me: "You have 6 more months to go, so you have to pay the listed prices of the phones." As for plans, he just quoted the same prices as in the Plan brochure. So much for great deals

I looked at Motorola's new ROKR Z6M, but was dissapointed to find out it's missing some features, like the camera light, compared to the GSM version, even though it's in the exact same package.
