Questions concerning Nokia E70, unlocked phones, and Rogers

I am considering getting a Nokia E70. However I am not very cellphone knowledgeable (this would be my first phone). First off, would the phone run mobile msn messenger? Also could I just add our old nokia phone to my parents plan, then after I had bought an unlocked E70 put in the SIM card from the old phone into the E70? Or is my understanding of unlocked phone flawed? We are on the Rogers network, would the E70 work on it? Lastly, is the E70 a good phone?...and help would be greatly appreciated

Yes, you can run MSN Messenger.

You can slip in your SIM card into the E70, that's why it's called "unlocked".

Terms of a good phone is different to any individual, that's up to you.

Make sure you get the E70-2, because it has 850MHz.

Like X-Factor stated, get the one with 850MHz band. The model that uses 850 is the Nokia E70-2. The E70-1 is used for Asia/Europe.

Wrong forum buddy. But that depends on your location. Go check it at wirelessadisor. Or just ask people in your area if they are using unlocked phones with 900Mhz, and if they are getting by with it. I know some people in GTA using overseas phones.

No problem. Feel free to ask any more questions. If I missed any posts, just PM me.

It's a nice phone. It reminds me of the Nokia 6820 that I owned because of the flip out keyboard. I would've got one, but it runs Symbian OS. Powerful OS, but it lags a lil bit in response...like 1 or 2 seconds. However, it is more dependable than some Windows phones that I have used IMO. But it is a good phone overall.

How's this a wrong thread it says concerning unlocked phones and sorry if it is.

OK, one last question. I've done some shopping, and I am kinda confused. The one is silver with a 900mhz, and the other is 850mhz. So whats..the deal?

That depends on the brand. If it states that it will work with the said device, then you're just going to have to go with it. If it doesn't, then just return it using the warranty. Remember, there may be a slow down on the device because it is handling a memory card with such large capacity. That's why some manufacturers prefer consumers to stay within the 512 MB to 1 GB range.

hey if i get an unlocked lg chocolate will it work on the cingular network??

LOL, sorry man i know its about a nokia phone but it also says Concerning unlocked phones so i thought no one would mind if i posted here Sorry again

make sure it's a GSM version and not the CDMA version. Also, make sure it has the 850 mHz band for cingular, otherwise its service will be greatly crippled

Trust me you won't need a 4GB. I have a 2 GB and it's plenty. The funny thing is Nokia says on the web site that the E70 can handle up to 2 GB cards but if you talk to a rep. they recommend only going as high as 1 GB.
