Questions about working at restaurants like Olive Garden and Red Lobster?

1. If I am 16 (17 in less than a month), and have no other restaurant experience, but have held a summer job for 2 years, would I be able to start out as a waitress? Or would I have to be a hostess first, then move up?
2. If I start out as a hostess how much would I make per hour? And how long would it normally take me to move up if I am a good worker?
3. Do waitresses get to keep their tips? If they have to give some up, what percentage is it?
Thanks so much.
And a forth question... Sorry
4. What is the best way to apply? Visiting the restaurant, over the internet, over the phone?

1. I think you would have to start out as something other than a waitress and work you way up.
2. I don't know about this, but I would guess minimum wage.
3. This all depends upon the restaurant's policy. Some places let each person keep whatever they make at their tables and others divide tips among the other waitresses and bus boys.

Places like Olive Garden and Red Lobster, TGI Friday's and such have extensive training before they put you on the floor.
Also, no experience makes you what the restaurant biz calls "Trainable"
They don't like input on how to do things from waitresses form other places. They will train you to be EXACTLY the waitress they want you to be.
And you will make$$$$$$$!
They wont overwhelm you at first. As you get better, theywill give you more tables.
Most places like these will require you to pay ou 10% to the busboy, and 10% to the bartender.
Dont worry about the hostess, she gets paid all by herself to do her job. But be nice to her, she'll give you the best customers.
Keep at it, be your best, and you will make $$$$$$$$$$!

I used to work in OG
1. If your 16, you cant be a waitress because you service beer and liquor, its 18 in my state but some its as high as 21.
2. I started as a host and made 8 but I had experience, this was also 3 years ago.
3. They share them with bussers, host, bartenders. I dont remember the % i think its 2?
4. Visit the restaurant.
