I'm trying to understand the price structure. Basic package is French, w/Partout au Canada, ...

6 themes = $26
5 themes = $23
4 themes = ?
3 themes = ?

TMN w/6 themes = ?
TMN w/5 themes = ?
TMN w/4 themes = ?
TMN w/3 themes = ?

Thanks,

4 themes = $23 (same as 5, the 5th is free.)
3 themes = $24 ($8 each)

TMN w/7 themes = $31 + $19 - $3
TMN w/6 themes = $26 + $19
TMN w/5 themes = $23 + $19
TMN w/4 themes = $23 + $19
TMN w/3 themes = $24 + $19

Yeah, don't go to four themes, whatever you do. Is there some general perception around here that four themes is cheaper than three?

This is the second time I've seen that on this forum.

I called bell on monday because one channel was missing on one of my TV's which was suppose to be corrected when they put a hit on this receiver. Then the rep asked me what type of programming I liked and I said sports and she said she could add sports 2 for $3.00 so I took it. Now I am stuck with sports 2 because if I cancel it I would lose all 4 sportsnet channels. This is because the new sports 2 includes sportsnet which were deleted from Sports 1 and replaced by RDS. Oh by the way I am still missing Channel 234 Global Quebec the original channel I called about the one I was missing on one TV.

The only way I found out about the changes to Sports 1 and Sports 2 was when I called yesterday asking to replace Sports 2 with Life Style 2 and when this was done Rogers Sportnet disappeared. So I had to add back sports 2 and Lifestyle 2. So my fee jumped from $59.00 to $67.00 before taxes. There is no way that I can switch back to the Old Sports 1 they would not let me do it. I have been a bell subsciber since Oct 31, 2003 and I have no contract.

As an 'ole-timer' you should have known about this stunt. Anytime you changeyour programming, you lose. Period.

Obviously, moving SportsNet to Sport 2 was retaliation for (a) Rogers holdout on putting TSN2 in Ontario last year, and (b) their aggressive entry into the home phone market.

I was looking at the Bell TV site to see if I can add RDS as a pick n pay option (I do this every six months or so).

Seems RDS + RDS HD are now part of the Sports 1 package while Sportsnet has been moved to the Sports 2 package.

I currently sub to Sports 1 and don't see RDS in my guide so I would need to call Bell and get updated. Ideally I'd like to have RDS + Sportsnet but I don't want to pay another 8 bucks for an extra package just for one channel since of course Sportsnet is not available as a pick n pay option. Bell is irritating...

Dont think Bell would be too smart from a business perspective if they left RDS, RDS HD, TSN, TSN 2, Rogers Sportnet, Score, Score HD, and like 5 other services in Sports 1. Wonder what the cost of that package would have been for them ... we are talking about all the premier tier 1 sports services in one theme, that could be purchased for less than $5 (customer chooses pick 5 at $23).

Even now, its an amazing value with all the channels above less RSN...

So I'm late to the news I see ...

I can understand RDS in a sports package in QC but in the ROC a little surprising. Maybe Habs interest has reached a point where subs are asking for it as a pick n pay and Bell decided to package it with English channels as well?

And I agree that including Sportsnet and TSN with RDS in one sports package would make that the best out of the bunch. Just annoying you can't pick n pay as with Videotron.

Did she mention that she was switching you to the new Sports 1? I wonder if their system allows someone to be on the old Sports 1 and the new Sports 2?

No mention was made of the new sports 1 all that was said was that sports 2 was being added for $3.00. I am wondering if I could go back and change to the old Sports 1 and dump the new sports 2. I think I was misled by the rep.

When I was a Bell TV CSR (last day june 30th), you could have had both "old" Sports 1 and New Sports 2 on the same account. Too bad you did not insist to keep your grandfathered theme pack.

If we were to switch to an English-based package, would the prices be the same as above?
(we would need less boxes)

I am on the old sports 1 theme pack as part of my 5 themes along with digital standard. I also have the old HD $10.00 value pack. I want to get RDS HD. As it was not originally part of this pack when I subscribed does this mean I will have to change all my programming to the new theme packs?

Check out a new brochure. I think RDS is automatically available in HD when you have the SD version. I think. I don't think you have to change your HD package (4 themes for $10, 5 themes for $15), but you should get HD RDS for "free" with SD.

Try adding Le Monde en Francais if you don't want to change to the new Sports 1 and Sports 2. Another theme for you is $3, anyways.

I just signed up for Bell TV and found that I do not get sports package 1 even though I have TSN HD. Stupid that I have pay an extra $8 month for TSN SD when I already have TSN HD.

It should be that if you are paying extra for HD you automatically get the correcsponding SD channel.

You should not be able to get TSN HD without TSN SD. Either the CSR made a mistake or it's part of an introductory promo. This has been discussed previously.

Najoe, as an English customer you require Digital Standard and New Sports 1 to get HD Sports or the TSN HD pick-n-pay.

If you are a French customer with Base Numerique, you can subscribe to HD Sports without New Sports 2.

najoe, most people complain that they can't get TSN HD without subscribing to SD. Consider yourself lucky. You're not just paying $8 for TSN; you also get several other sports channels in Sports 1.
