Questions about Enbrel

Please help!

I have several concerns:

!. I work with children that are often sick and I am surrounded by colds, viruses, etc.,. If I take enbrel will I be sick all the time and less able to fight off infections(pneumonia, bronchitus, etc.).

2. About the side effects, specifically, cancer of the lymphs and
contaminated injection sight causing cancer( which is a top 10 cause of cancer). If you have family history of cancer does this increase the risks?

3. Once you are on enbrel can you go back to using the methotrexate if need be or is your immune system so dependent on this drug that nothing else will work?

I am hoping that I can get more information from this posting. I would like to know about other enbrel user's experiences,side effects, etc.,

I'm right there with you on the questions. I am having to choose between Enbrel and Humira and not quite sure that I want to do either of them. I teach little children and they are already sick. :rolleyes: I hope someone has some good answers.
 
I am about to start enbrel this week. I asked my doctor the same questions. I have a history of cancer on both sides of my family. My father and his brother and my grand-father on my mothers side. My doctor said that it is about one in 100,000 chance of getting cancer. Studys show that people who had other kinds of arthritis and was on Enbrel did not get cancer. So he said just because you have RA buts you at risk of cancer and that they will keep doing test so if I did get it it would be cought early. I will be taking the Methotrexate with the Enbrel. I have been dealing with alot of small infections lately and I have not started Enbrel yet. I work in a building with thousands of other people so I am also concerned about the increase risk of infections. Soory I can't help with the infections part of your question. May be someone else here can help you with that.
 
I need to know has anyone been on enbrel for any length of time?

Is there any anyone out there who could tell us more about their experiences. How long they have been on enbre? How their health has been? Is it still working for them? Do you work in a profession where you are likely to catch colds,flu, infections, etc.? What has been your experience?:confused:
