Questions about casper the friendly ghost

im 21`and can't imagine seeing 15 minute shorts in a movie theater. would they air more than one and what was the price?

i need to do a little research here i suppose.

1. The length of the average theatrical short is about 6 or 7 minutes, not 15.

2. There wasn't a separate admission price to watch the shorts; they typically aired before the main features, so it was the same price paid to get into the theaters to see the movies themselves.

i was not aware they were shown before a movie, like i said im 21 and am just getting into studying animation.

was this the same way for the disney shorts, ie donald duck? was their a feature attraction shown after the donald shorts were shown?

If you talk to your grandparents, they will tell you what it was like in the 30's and 40's. They'll tell you that you got to see two movies, with a cartoon before each movie, a news reel or two, and some sort of educational short film, i.e. This Week In Science or something. And you got to see all this for a nickel!!

At least that's what my grandparents have told me.

I would loved to have been there.

The theaters was the place to go for the updates, outside of radio.
If you want to see the big fight go to the theaters. Babe Ruth is playing today?? A week or so down the line, you can see how he look by going to the theaters.

Movies, Cartoons, news reels, Complete Sports footage, all in the theaters lol.

I have some pre 1935 theater fights footage, and its relly a treat to see, the big band music, drums music all before the fight. Its amazing.

No offense, but if you didnt know that cartoon shorts used to be shown at cinemas, then WHERE did you that cartoons made prior to the television- era were shown?

Oh and btw, if you want a good summary of the history of (American) animation, i recommend the four wikipedia articles on the subject (the first one, about the silent-film era, is sadly very short, but the following three are great)
