Questioning sounds of new pipes

O.K. So I put on some HK 3s, K an N filter, and pclll mapped by Jamie at fuelmoto.Sounds great, rides stronger, but I think there is just a little backpop on no throttle decel for just a short period of time. Question 1 Should I remove pair valve? #2 Is this just normal? #3 Should I have it dyno tested? Jamie said it should be about 90% accurate. If I let it idle, give it some gas while in nuetral, I smell gas like its not even exhaust. Thanks for all input.

I think with aftermarket exhaust a little popping is unavoidable. You can remove the pair valve with no effect on performance. Actually it will improve just by removing 5lbs of material. Dyno is a waste of time and cost unless you plan on tracking. You will smell some gas at cold start. Double check the torque of head bolts. 17ft/lbs.

I just installed Cobra Slashdown Speedsters a PCIII usb and a K&N filter on my C90 tonight and it runs GREAT, no surging, smooth power and sound.

However, like you said, while coasting down in gear RIGHT before you reach idle speed on the coastdown you get a few pops. I hope its normal. Anyone have any sound clips? Ill try to post mine.

Im a bit worried, but the bike runs great.

Kodatech congrats on pipes its like a whole new bike Sounds like you and I are maybe just normal sounding. Ive called a few people(even my dealership) and they said some popping is o.k. I think I am going to do a little more research on the pair valve and maybe discontinue its use. I tried to get sound byte but didnt come out to good from my dig.cam.

yeah im glad to hear someone else has the same sound, mine is just before it reaches idle on a coast down. I have removed my pair valve completely. I woke up pretty sick this morning, i was going to take a video of the sound, ill do it this weekend.

My reed valves are already blocked off. My entire pair valve system is completely removed. The bike popped on decel even when completely stock.

Its just now that it is loud due to the un-corked exhaust, it is alot more noticable.

Rain is supposed to stop tommorrow (saturday) and ill try to get some video/sound clips.

Sounds good Kodatech!

What do you have your idle set at? Sounds a bit low.
I just had to bump my idle up 'cause of the weather change up here. Got realy cold over-nite, and it started stalling once the cold-air Fast Idle Speed kicks down, once warmned up it runs great.

I havent changed the idle speed, and I forgot to look at it when I was mapping it with the power commander. It performs really well though. Ill take the laptop out to the garage later on or tomorrow and see what it is idling at.

Yep that sounds good alright.I could hear yours backpoppin a little. I stuck some golf tees in my two lines off of pair valve and I got to admit,it made a huge difference.Hardly any popping and now when Im at no throttle at decel it actually goes to idle a lot faster. Sorry to hear yours didnt make much diff. I would check torque settings and mapping again. Make sure your light on pclll throttle is working. I dont think I would sweat it much though. Hell yea sounds good

You may also get some popping if the torque is not correct at the head bung gaskets. I tried two time to watch you video but each time it said I did not have the latest software. I downloaded it, restarted and still nothing. Must just be me. Anyway, I also made a video today. Here she be.
YouTube - my dumb video

Cool...sounds good. Thats about the amount of popping mine has, but it does sound a bit different. That side exhaust you have is pretty cool.

Tried again to watch you video kodatech but still nothing. Oh well I give up. I like the exhaust but HK was sure a big pain. The set on the bike is set #3 and they are still wrong. I gave up and will live with the fab errors.
