hey i have a problem i'm hoping is resolvable. right now, i'm on a 3-yr contract with BellMobility using my audiovox CDM 8910. I'd like to get a new phone (that's not available with that company) but still keep my plan and number. Is there a way that i could "switch" my number and plan onto another cell (even one that would normally require a simcard?) or better yet, get it transfered ON to a sim card? I have no idea if those are even possible so i could be just wishing but if anyone knows anything please reply. thanks in advanced

You could buy the new phone outright. Tell them you lost your other one or something. They should put your number and all on the new phone as long as it's compatible with Bell.

I've screwed myself out of my 8610 because I've plugged in the data cable with a software that's built for 8910...to put it simply, my 8610 think it is a 8910, and everytime I try to save a phonebook entry, it hangs on me. If the suggestion would work, I am hoping I may not be stuck and can buy a 8910 off eBay or something.
So, jlo939, can you post a message here to let us know? Thanks a lot.

this isnt the original question for this thread, but to answer your question, you can use any cdma phone that is compatible with your service provider, even the same kind of phone you already have (as long as the replacement phone wasnt reported lost or stolen before you got it). if your service provider has retail locations (like a sprint store) someone there might be able to fix the phone you already have.

another idea is, did you try to reverse the problem by plugging the phone in with the correct software? good luck, hope this answers your question.
